This past week we have received a photo of this hairstyle emailed to us or posted to our Facebook page about 100 times, requesting that we provide a tutorial. Since my girls are totally loving pancake braids {braids that are flattened by tugging the elbows of the braids}, it was easy to convince them to try it...
This hairstyle uses the same Dutch braid pancaked technique we used here...
• Wrap-Around Dutch Panc...
I did not pancake the Dutch portion of the braid, because this daughter has a little shorter hair and I needed the length for the flower. My daughter wore this all day today, and received so many compliments!

You can use the braided flower bun by itself, or in any number of combinations. This hairstyle is perfect for weddings, formal occasions, flower girls, prom, homecoming, etc! Enjoy!
Items Needed: Brush, rat-tail comb, spray bottle, one hair elastic, hairspray {if desired}, one small flower accessory for center of flower bun.
Time Requirement: 7-10 minutes

When she pulls the hair to make it look poofy, she's not pulling it from her head, she's pulling it from the hair left over on the ends. It doesn't hurt the little girl. I do that style to braids all the time. It doesn't hurt, it just makes it look more voluminous.

You are very talented! The only thing I can do is a regular 3 strand braid. I would need 8 hands to do what you do! LOL! Your little girl is so adorable and unusually patient. She must love for her mom to fix her hair in all those beautiful braided styles. I wish my mom would have made my hair pretty when I was little but I was lucky as long as she didn't get the scissors ahold of my hair. hahaha!

LeighhMakeup Let me try again since I lost my last reply. I grew up in a Baptist home/church but later went to Pentecostal so I do remember when they didn't allow women to cut their hair, wear makeup, or wear pants. Thankfully, when I grew up they allowed all that and also allowed women to wear shorts (not Daisy Dukes though) or pants on Wednesday nights. My adopted mother would chop up my hair so awful and it would be almost up to my ears. I have a picture of me when I was 4 and it is the worst haircut ever! When it grew out some, my great grandmother would braid (she called it plaid) my hair in pigtails. My hair is very long now and oh how I wish I had your skills because I pay someone to French braid it (in lieu of rolling it) just so I can let it down after a day or so and have long wavy hair. You are very lucky! :)

The difference between a Dutch braid and a French braid: French braid is when you braid over, Dutch braid is when you braid under.
