I saw both.. I mean the 3 Chinooks and the 5 Apaches flying above Greenhithe couple of days ago. It was an amazing sight! I just heard a huge roaring sound which got more and more louder, so I ran outside very very fast to have a look around and I saw the 3 chinooks. Then after 10 minutes or so the 5 apaches. :D

wait till you hear and feel the rumble of a CH-53E or the newer K Model ;) about 5 days ago in Georgia US, i had 2 CH-53E's fly almost directly over me at about id say 500 AGL, my entire house shook for about 30-45 seconds before i could actually see them. but the loudest whopping comes from the AH-1W Super Cobra, you can hear those about 3-4 miles out, they are louder than the legacy Huey even. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gabOf2ere7iSr5o The rotor blade is only 1.2 inches less than the width of the Fuselage itself.

@@fatmanfaffing4116 i used to live almost next door to Tara Field - home of the AAHF which flew their Huey's and their Cobra's over my house nearly every weekend. I have been given free rides in those same helicopters for volunteering at their place on Tara Field. Back in 1999 Peachtree City GA, i was still with Civil Air Patrol, one of their staff became ill and was the Right Door Gunner on some LP Powered M60's . they chose me to replace him. So trust me, i know the sounds very well. And I am 41 myself, my father was in Vietnam as a 0311 Marine. My Godfather was a 11B Infantry in Vietnam also, they even crossed paths a couple times. Please don't assume I dont know what that sounds like or based on my personal family experiences i cannot correlate the sounds and the feelings. You would love it where I am at in Alabama. I live next to Ft Rucker which is the #1 Army Aviation training facility. It is pretty cool watching the Apache practicing maneuvers at treetop level, and they are not flying slowly like in this video but extremely fast and aggressive. If you can get in the right area you can also watch the Apache's doing live fire on targets. The best time is during their finals. The air is filled with just about every type of military rotary wing craft you can think of.

I worked/lived (almost sometimes) in the back of the Woka’s for many years. I always found the unique blade beat hypnotic, which got me into a zone, that made me work in a unique way, I just can’t do in civi-life. Maybe it’s because it’s less dangerous & exciting in the real world, maybe it’s because people don’t realise what the few have to do to keep the country safe, so they can moan about trivial things. Either way, I miss the sound, smell, even the decision making, though not all were good ones. It’s hard when you can only watch on KZbin… Nevertheless, 60 years later, and she is still ugly, but nothing comes close to being able to replace her. She is magnificent, and saved thousands of lives, both in combat, humanitarian, & “You” viewers, who haven’t a clue about 99% of the terror plots that are ‘neutralised’, before they reach your town. We salute you Chieftain Chinook!
