Dutch (Police) Border Force Pulls Me Over!

This was 1km after entering the Netherlands from Belgium. The police were on standby checking for any foreign vehicles entering Dutch territory and escorting them to the Dutch Border Control guys to carry out ID & Passport checks.
They checked our passports and they were happy with everything and they let us on our way :-)
We had a friendly chat about our crazy idea of driving from London, United Kingdom to Eindhoven, Netherlands for a kebab meal.

It's not Border control but the Dutch Military police who has also border responsibilities. It's not regular you have to drive so far btw.

Your kebab trip reminds me of a lunch trip I mad e with a friend back when I was around 21. I drove my friend and I from central Ottawa, Ontario, Canada to the old city part of Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. However, when we were already in Quebec City, my friend told me that he had to work at 5:00 back in Ottawa. Thankfully, radar detectors were not banned yet. We made it with 5 min. to spare even though we came through rush hour traffic in Montreal. No, I wasn't zigzagging through traffic, but I made up time in between cities, where the highways were usually pretty empty (back then).

U werd gecontroleerd door de Koninklijke Marechaussee (KMar), die grensbewaking tot haar taak heeft. P&R betekent ‘park and ride’. U kunt er parkeren en weer wegrijden.

This isn't normal "police", this is "Koninklijke Marechaussee", Dutch military police.

they are just checking and looking for unusual circumstances. People from abroad are selected because they have a different license plate or are not from the EU. the Marechaussee or abbreviated to KMAR is the Dutch military police. the Royal Marechaussee may operate outside its own borders to prevent smuggling (e.g. drugs, fireworks, weapons, etc.), human trafficking and money laundering. The KMAR is also allowed to drive faster than the regular police. the regular police are allowed to drive 50 km/h (31 mph) faster than other traffic, while the KMAR is allowed to drive above 200 km/h (124 mph). e.g. a car drives 160 km/h where 100 km/h is allowed. the regular police may follow, overtake and stop the car, but may not overtake other vehicles at a speed above 150 km/h. Yet in most cases the police do not follow the rules. It only becomes a big problem when the police car crashes into another vehicle.

Military Police, they work alongside with Douane but in this video I haven't seen one so this is primarily all MP doing the the check which they are allowed to do.

"Douane" in English is customs.

The " Koninklijke Marechaussee " ( Royal Gendarmerie ) is like the french Gendarmerie a militairy based organisation. It is responsible for all foreign cross border traffic on persons ; acts as military police for the armed forces and is responsible for the protection of the Royal Family Its is not part of Douane ( Custums ) who focus solely on incoming goods.

​@@heymoileroy I know.. I live there, I just said that it was MP ceckpoint not a customs one. But usually when the have like a bigger organised checkpoint they work together with LE and local police, customs and tax officers. I dont know the official naming for the last one

Yeah, that'd be one way to get in a lot of trouble... As for pathetic: it's quite normal here to set up a checkpoint a bit off the thoroughfares, with police/KMar pulling people off said thoroughfares to not alert smugglers and other baddies. Also, it's a SAFE spot, unlike on the side of the road.
