Lockdown heeft me de tijd gegeven om Nederlands te studeren. Ik dreigde de taal te verliezen. Dankzij uw harde werk herwin ik mijn vertrouwen in de taal. Thanks for another useful video! I've been told that noun subordinate clauses use "dat" in general for both de and het worden and adjective subordinate clauses use "dat" for het-worden and "die" for de-worden. Could you please confirm if that's the case? 😊

Thanks for your videos! I think sometimes this is similar to English where you use 'who', 'that', 'preposition + which' or 'where' to start a clause. But it's a little bit difficult to direct translate clauses starting with 'whose' or 'when'.

Hi Kim, thank you for your lessons!! I tried to make my own sentences and straight away I noticed how many questions I still have. Help! lol. I understand it's: Ik heb een vriendin die psycholoog is. But when I want to say this: Een vriendin van mij die (of wie - because of 'van'?) psycholoog is veel nieuwe patienten heeft. / Ik heb een vriendin wie uit een dorp komt (wie, because of 'uit'?) en ze (of wie?) een zeer moderne persoon is. / Ik heb een vriend wie van bier houdt. ('wie' because of van, correct?)/ Dit is de koffiemachine die goede espresso maakt. Dit is mijn koffiemachine die ik elke dag gebruik. Dit is mijn koffiemachine waarvan ik elke dag gebruik maak. (?)/ Ik hoop dat je de tijd vindt om ons nog meer uitleg te geven, dankjewel en groetjes :)

I recall viewing short movies in an authentic old-fashioned bioscope. Most of the students here and you Kim likely never saw one. It was so named because you place two eyes on different eyepieces. and the images were sent on tiny screen in the gadget from two sources and were flat but created a 3-D impression using the brains ability to synthesize a 3-D image through a slightly angled image of the real world that reaches the right and left half of the brain. that is why 3D glasses still in use use tiny prism and light coding. So, there is a sophisticated neuro-ophthalmology (which I am very passionate about and also good at) behind that film camera or film projector (= a device for showing films on a screen) which requires the participation of brain to create a 3D image of real world and the films shown on theatres. Now HDTV and the 3d videos do that but using a different technology that dotes not require participation of the bran’s capacity to generate 3D images.

Hoi Kim! Ik heb onlangs je kanal ontdekt en ik vind het heel leuk! Dankjewel voor de uitleg over relatieve bijzinnen :D Ik heb nog een vraag. Vanmorgen was ik naar de radio aan het luisteren en er was en liedje dat zei: "jij bent degene waar ik van hou". Maar ik dacht dat als een persoon + prepositie was dan moeten we prep + wie gebruiken. Wat is de juiste voorm? Zou het "jij bent degene van wie ik hou" zijn? Erg bedankt!!

Omg, tot nu toe dacht ik dat een engelse grammatica is een beetje moeilijker dan een Nederlandse maar nu vind ik dat het is niet waar haha. It can also be seen as you use "die" when "die" is the subject of the second sentence. You use a preposition, e.g. "wanwie", when the second sentence describes something about a person that is not the subject of the second sentence.

I am learning toward my inburgering and it is a very nice video. I was curious about one thing - are prepositions always in front of the verbs at the end of the sentence? When I was learning about ER in the Nederlands in Actie book, the preposition would go to the end of the of the sentence if verbs are made of only one part and in front of the participium if the verb has two parts. Examples: Houd je van drop? Nee, ik houd er niet van. ~~~Heb je last van onze muziek? Ja, ik er niet door slapen. I was wondering if the same rule applies in the case of relative pronouns? In English This is the cat which (or that) I adopted is deemed CONJUNCTION not preposition. Is this not the case in Dutch?
