so in the netherlands we' ve got a very international culture where food is usualy very centered in our connection with people and friendships. in amsterdam all these things get together because its such an internetional city. food in general is very important top me as i like to invite friends for dinner so i really like to see how much you like to eat at the netherlands since we are a very food centered culture from restaurants to stands to FEBO hahaha.

It does seem to always rain when you you are meeting up! When I think about in, with the exeption of the fish, some fried goofd, stroopwafels, poffertjes and perhaps a rookworst as you used to get at a store, most streetfoods have indeed a foreigh origin but are so intergrated in the streetfood in the netherlands. One of my favourites as a kid was getting a fresh Vietnamese loempia with lots of spicy sauce at the local market on Saturday. I have the same memory as Dennis, I remember as a kid getting the bag of stroopwafel crumbs for like 50 cents.

2:05 technically speaking the herring is not raw. Right after it being caught it will be "gekaakt" , a type of cleaning the fish which will cure it ( as in the food curing, not the medical curing) which makes the herring technically not raw. You will know the diffference once you bite into an actual raw herring (which is absolutely gross, I am speaking from experience) 3:20 I am sorry but that is a wrong translation of the name, the name in English would be "Fishmonger Miller". The name is about the job, not the building. 5:30 omg Koekkruimerls, yes they were very cheap. I remember buying a bag of these for 50 cent (guilders, not euros) for a 500 gram bag. I am also very happy you got the normal stroopwaffel and not the frankenstein creations you see nowadays catering mainly to Americans that want "choice in flavors" 6:29 As far as I am aware, these are not Bao Bao but Bapao. What I remember from Bao Bao is that they are open faced buns. I am however not an expert in this so I can be wrong. Never had cannoli, that looks like something I need to try. Glad you all had such a good and tasty time. :)
@dvdkolk Жыл бұрын
Good corrections but you don’t translate names so it would still be Molenaar

It's lovely to see you four together again, enjoying each other, Amsterdam, and so many delicious street snacks! I'm especially happy that Satoshi got to experience it with you this time, Shinichi. Looks like he had a blast. 🙌🎉 I'm glad he escaped torture by salty licorice, though. 🤣(I know how he dislikes licorice.) "Everything" probably would have been my answer for the best snack of the day as well. Food aside, I wish I could have tagged along--you're four of my favorite people. I'm tickled the fun doesn't have to stop here. I'm off to Tim and Dennis' channel to continue the adventure! 👍

Oh heavens, Albert Cuyp has changed enormously since it was my regular Saturday fruit/veg/cheese/minimart shopping place in the 1970s, when I lived just four blocks to the south. Back then there were no street food stalls, apart from a frieten stand at the top end. I rarely made it that far up, so no snacks for me in those days. Just as well as being skinny was an absolute must then and all those temptations would have piled on the pounds!

Firstly,haringfilet,I ate it every day,so delicious!!! Stroipwaffel,you can only get good ones in the Netherlands. Those bottles,that you pop the marble? That is a codbottle,invented in 1870, by Hiram Cod,in England. I own a very rare origional codbottle,found whilst mudlarking the Thames last year. The treat amongst treats can be found in Spui. Is it Voetboogstraat? Maybe Handboogstraat? No,Handboogstraat. The Vlamse frites. Best potato frites on the planet. They just are. Yes.
