I visited Amsterdam last year for the first time and remember being super fascinated by the Albert Heijn foods. Their packaging is so beautiful I went around the whole supermarket taking photos lol. You didn't talk about the drinks in the video. I remember not being thirsty at all but buying the cashew cacao nut drink anyways. They have very short expiry so you know they're all pretty fresh! And when I thought AH is amazing, I went into this place called Marqt that has an even more amazing collection of produce in probably award-winning level packaging designs. I mean, they make me want to buy dish-washing liquid while I am on vacation. lol. I love Netherlands - I know it's more than Amsterdam and Holland but I am sure I would love them all!

Moving over in 2 weeks from Scotland. I was just there last week and was in and out of the shop. I was trying to find my way about as they were really different from Scottish spupermarkets. This one in the video will actually be my closest Albert heijn when I move and I’ve not yet been to it! One thing I found mad was that you guys use sprinkles on toast. It’s totally normal and there was a huge section at the albert Heijn at Vijzelstraat. Such a strange combination but I’m definitely going to try it out.

@Sabri963

@CelestaS
@CelestaS 8 жыл бұрын
Nee, anders.
@CelestaS
@CelestaS 8 жыл бұрын

@josien31 I agree with that. You can buy the best cheese directly from the farmer or in the cheese shop, and not in the supermarket. The farmer's cheese has so much more flavor than the factory cheese from the supermarkets. if you have tasted that, you dont want a supermarket cheese anymore. Believe me. The difference in quality is big.

Very good tour, I do not think you missed anything. The only thing which is not very common is putting appelstroop on top of cheese. One thing has to be said: you can find all the food mentioned in any Albert Heijn (AH) in the Netherlands, but most AH's do not sell souvenirs. That's typical for the extra large AH in the tourist center of Amsterdam. If you buy a lot do take a bigger cart so you do not have to pick up everything from the floor at the counter. Hvala mnogo.

Albert Heijn is the best grocery store in Amsterdam. I bought some awesome food at a very affordable price and microwave them. Get a discount card and you will save even more! Microwave services are provided in selected stores so you have to look out for it! The closest one that has a microwave is near the centraal.

you probably never have eaten fresh boerenkool or any stampot, because those premade are horrible and the premade poffertjes and pancakes are horroble also? just make them fresh. really? why eat factory food when making it fresh is so much better and very easy. Never buy the package cheese? buy fresh, it is a world of difference? are you payed by AH? it is like you never eat fresh, everything is from AH, even the cakes.

+Bjorn Slangen you can buy almost everything fresh. if you're a tourist you should try most of the things but not from the super market. albert heijn is arguably the best supermarket in the netherlands but premade food can't compare to fresh in most cases.

+ZWGamemasterGame Actually I did eat all of those things fresh because I live in Amsterdam and my boyfriend is 100% Dutch. Hate to break it to 'ya but most Dutchies eat prepackaged foods and they taste fine. Also if you have ever traveled before you know you're not going to cook as a tourist AND our cheese at the AH beats any cheese abroad. Not saying you're not right about fresh products. I'm just saying it's not what the average Dutch person eats. As a long time traveler that's what I'm looking for (what the average person in that country eats). Therefore I recommend it to my other fellow travelers. Better to ask before you pass judgement ;-).

I personally can't aggree with the part about buying cheese at the AH and having the same quality as a farmers cheese or cheese from a Special shop. It's a bit more expensive but the best Cheese is bought from the farmer himslef or his store.
