Dutch is a Wild West version of Ted Kaczynski, he's essentially an anarcho primitivist who believes in tribal/gang life free of centralized industrial society. Ofc he'd easily convince natives similar to Eagle Flies to join him, they're both kin ideologically. If you remember the Angelo Bronte mission on the boat Bill was patronizing how "savage" natives were and Dutch legitimately got angry at him, because Dutch unironically believed the native Americans were the last free people from the known world's "civilization" he saw as evil.

This feels like I was watching Dutch after the the final mission with John killing Micah going into hiding until the events of RDR1 where he was going back to the old places that hold some memory to him good or bad. Though, I think he's only going to these places to finally let go of the past of his former gang and putting the Dutch we all knew during Arthur's time to rest and become the Dutch we know in RDR1. This was such a great short film and can't wait to see what other RDR2 films will come!

And also Dutch had a brain injury. In the mission which they steal or let me say "borrow" a city train and then they have an accident and Dutch hit his head bad so that's why he changes a lot afterwards. I must admit that Dutch was a good man for me in chapter 1, 2 and 3.

@@CommanderIronBear i think it all kinda compounded onto Dutch, the trolley/hit to head, the blackwater incident/killing the lady, all the gang member deaths, Micha bell's influence. it all started to stack on him. when we see him at Mt Hagen "same as you, i suppose" he did mean it, killing Micha. to me that was a brief moment of the Dutch they all knew seeing what a rat Bell really was. but that was also his end aswell, the last time we see Dutch, he has all but lost it reliving the "dream" by rebuilding a "gang" again.

I want RDR3 to be another prequel, this time from Dutch's perspective. I'm thinking it should take place across three time periods. 1870 to 1875, when Dutch leaves home, showing his formative years when he meets Hosea and whatnot. 1884 to 1888, introducing us to younger versions of Hosea, Arthur, and John, showing the Van Der Linde gang forming a name for themselves, and the origins of the conflict with Colm O'Driscoll. Finally, late 1898 and early 1899, showing the events just before RDR2 (meeting Micah and whatnot), and ending with the disastrous Blackwater Ferry Heist and the escape into the mountains.

You know these videos of Dutch going back to old locations and lamenting his failures along with being haunted by visions of former gang members is actually the perfect segue to his story in RDR. He ends up going back to Blackwater to wreak havoc (the place where it all started) and is confronted by John (the last remaining gang member he betrayed and nearly got killed) which leads to his death. Rather poetic.
