Not in your genre I guess, but for me Floor Jansen is the best singer of The Netherlands. She sings mostly symphonic metal with her band Nightwish, but also more calm solo work and she also did some amazing songs in "Beste Zangers" in 2019.

@@j.vanderson6239 I just listened to the song you reference. Interesting how it gradually builds in intensity. It begins rather gently, a kind of lullaby: “Mijnheer de president, welterusten, slaap maar lekker in je mooie witte huis…”…and then reaches a crescendo with “En u zult toch ook zo langzaamaan wel weten dat er mensen zijn die ziek zijn van geweld, die het bloed en de ellende niet vergeten en voor wie nog steeds een mensenleven telt.” Powerful. We've also got some very talented Dutch ladies in the metal scene. And I said metal, but don't think screaming. Think more in the direction of opera vocals, acompanied by a metal band. And most of em do side projects as well that are in different styles/genres. The metal queens I'm talking about are Anneke van Giersbergen, Sharon den Adel, Floor Jansen and Simone Simons. Hi Mike, maybe you already know this Dutch singer (Douwe Bob) and the song he sings with a small orchestra, but in case you haven’t heard it, please listen to it. It’s a beautiful emotional song. It’s called Stone Into The River. You can check it out at: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5PVc2d3h5abY68si=vVKSN7I-wc7GTqIr Douwe Bob and Ilse De Lange performed in an American women’s prison with the song Hurt, which is well worth watching: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKiVaX2ld5Klebcsi=ArQlfGjkXrdCfKu_

To me Douwe and Ilse are not a good duo, i like him much better with Mell VF, which reminds me imwanted to post something about the Dutch tv program Beste Zangers. I do not watch tv but when i learn from the press BZ has a new season, i watch it on youtube. It is not that i do not like Ilse, have many of her cd's.

You should listen to Drs P. He writes incredible texts and very dry humour. Wim Sonneveld and the song 'Het Dorp'. Look up 'Ketelbinkie' thats a dutch tearjerker with a beautiful melody the old versions are the best.

@@hildevanginhoven_czt You’re right, Hilde. I don’t think most Americans imagine anything beyond their own borders. It is a vast country, of course, so maybe it is easier to stay inside a bubble! It’s a mighty big bubble, for sure. 😆 Meanwhile, little Nederland is a powerhouse on so many levels. Certainly happy to be here. ❤️

I did not know Jesus Christ sang as well😢. At the right time Hazes can be very moving, when you step over the bias there is a lot to discover. Eg I did not like Nick and Simon at all but bc of another tv program (also on youtube) i heard them sing Simon and Garfunkel. They made their own songs in that style, i am glad i got to know that. But then i was raised with ao de Zangeres zonder Naam, long before she sang songs like Mexico and became camp and these old songs i still like.
