I found your channel a few days ago and I'd like to say I really appreciate your work. This particular video was very educative; I was not aware before that some words ending in 'ee' take 's' in the plural form. Other things were also very interesting to listen to.

An aspect of Dutch grammar that I was completely unaware of, is that a noun ending in 'ee' can have either s or en in the plural- please excuse the omission of the trema, as my laptop has an English keypad. On checking my grammar textbook I found out that this is B1 level Dutch, and it said that 'often nouns ending in 'ee', have 'en' added in the plural'. So it looks like I'm going to have to find out for myself, all the nouns that end in 'ee', which have 'en' in the plural. The function of the trema in Dutch, can be best described as indicating that a vowel has a different sound, from the preceding vowel(s). This occurs in words such as tweeentwintig, skien, geinteresseerd, as well as when forming certain plurals, as you explained.

You are right Hamish. Basically you will learn by experience (or just cramming it in your head) which is the correct plural form of a noun.
