I'd love to see a Kephart style knife comparison. I've been using an ESEE PR4 for a while now as my main belt knife and love it. It's such a great sturdy tank of a blade. I prefer it over the Ka-Bar becker. Always wondered about the Ontario Blackbird and Bark River

Not sure if this would be relevant since its partially (and perhaps even primarily) a knife for hunting, fishing, food processing around camp aswell as cutting the occational stick.(According to Kephart himself.) Kephart also used a small folding knife and a tomahawk and the kind of testing the DBK boys do is likely a better representation of what kephart used those two tools for.

Terävä Jääkäripuukko probably the best knife in terms of value for money.

Best survival woods knives. They just need some edge and bevel work, I also used sand paper, on the bottom of the handle, to make the ergos better. Now it's perfect!! The handle material, is way, I mean way tougher than anybody might think. I was trying to remove material for days, just to shorten the handle, only by less than 1mm !!!

@@greekveteran2715 I got a Terävä Jääkäripuukko as a present. Unfortunately, the handle is a bit loose ... it can be pushed back and forth on the tang. I think, I must remove this black mass one day😉. Regarding the handle, I can only speak of my own impression. The surface feels a bit like sandpaper with a grain size somewhere between 1000 and 2000😂😉 ... in the long run I find that uncomfortable. It's nothing for me without gloves. But that is subjective. Otherwise an absolutely great knife with an very good steel.

Next knife you should test is the Extrema Ratio khukri. Same handle, but the blade would be perfect for bushcrafting with the way they've done the compound grind. Plus no other knife chops as well as a khukri.

Huge hype for DBK knife and actually for Mauser Victorinox knife. I'm a huge fan of Victorinox products. I wonder how this old one will compare to the modern analog of this configuration. May be like try to test each tool with modern iteration to see if the quality still holds?

Have you boys ever got ahold of an LT Wright? They use lots of A2, some O1 and even a little CPM-3V My favorite LT Wright knives Genesis Gen 3 Gen 5 Gen 6 Larry Roberts Illuminous 5 (CPM-3V) Patriot Pronghorn JX-2 Jessmuk (CPM-3V) I LOVE LOVE LOVE The Gen 6 and how they do they're Scandi's. Zero ground with micro buffed edge, plus they have the sharpest spines in ever.

Yes the Trakker knife is definitely a tool / knife ... it has specific uses , you would probably find it very interesting if you research it alittle and make a revisited video :) .. it is a good chopper if done properly , the saw blade is more for a notching tool , the indention in the blade is a tool for things like small detail work for arrows and atlatles etc , the straight part near the handle for carving and such , the tip is useful in drilling or starting a bow drill board etc .. I don't think it would be a good idea to 90" the spine where you would put your thumb for ferro rod but maybe if you put it in the sheath and 90* the plummel at the end if it isn't already or farther towards the tip ? Maybe you can make a revisited ? Also that knife was in the movie The Hunter 😬 .. only thing like you said in the video is that re sharpening it would be a challenge

I have the same knife in K390. One bad blade. Can skin a deer in no time and not even need stropping.

Bulgaria is one of the last countries in the EU where knife carrying is virtually unrestricted for both folders and fixed blades (minus the balisongs), but weirdly we don't have many reputable knife makers. In my opinion, only Dulo are worldclass, although Manly are showing good signs with their Patriot model too. As for the K390 - it's a bitch to sharpen, but JESUS does it hold a bloody edge!

Hey boys, I’ve never commented on a KZbin video, so this is a first. I recently picked up the Tops Apache Dawn. I was wondering if you’d do a review on it. It’s not a “bushcraft” or “survival knife” by classification, however I use it for those purposes and think it’s a solid knife.
