I took my Marttiini Leuku to the army with me and batoned wood and build shelters with it for 9 months and then I sharpened it. I really think you could have taken the batoning test further without too much fear of braking the leuku.

martiini makes good looking knives but their steel sucks it’s so soft and it’s a cheap 420 steel too anyway, if you want a cheap leuku wood jewel, ahti, woodsknife, stromeng, and jarvenpaa are the way to go. they all use laurin metalli 80crv2 blades at around 59-60 HRC as opposed to the 54 hrc 420 steel on martiini

It does put a bit of a damper on the "full tang to button" gang. Assume the reason is that people "living" that lifestyle used common sense to understand the limits and had the expertise to get the most out of the knife not to damage it in the process. eg, choose the right type of wood that you want to button that is as few knots as possible if any.
