Loved her so much. I went to a Phillis Hyman concert back in the day, all by myself. She was one of my favorite artists at the time. I went out and bought my ticket, didn’t care anything about having someone to go with me, I just had to see her and if that meant going alone, then that was okay and I’m not sorry that I did. RIP Ms. Hyman.

You know, I feel the exact same way! Glen Jones, Phyllis and the Whispers were to perform at the Beacon Theatre in New York City and I had to go. I went by myself, arriving late, missed Glen Jones, whose single Show Me was on the charts, and in the Middle of Phyllis performing, to which she closed with You Know How To Love Me, and that began my love affair with her, and that particular song. Whenever I hear this play, on my mobile phone, the radio, wherever, it brings me back to the Beacon, and how very fortunate that I saw her live in concert. I miss her terribly!

I lost my mom suddenly some years ago, but prior to her death, she took me to a Phyllis concert in Detroit at the FOX Theater. I was a teen and one of her friends canceled at the last so I went with her reluctantly...... I had no idea how important that time with her would be to me very soon dealing with the loss I would soon face. "Living all Alone", Living in Confusion" has pulled me through some really tough times. I just wish Phyllis didn't have to suffer as much as she did in this "Physical Plane" of existence. Like my mom, she was an enigma. Irreplaceable, incomparable, the epitome of love.

She wanted to do 40s style music but should have done more contemporary music. Often record producers know by your voice where you’re best served. Example, Lee Greenwood , originally a rock n roller , he was directed to country music where he thrived . But if you saw him in concert , he’d played xylophones, sax, and keyboards and guitar . He would throw in some jazz , his first love. Listen on KZbin to Lee playing sax on silver saxophone. Even Mariah Carey admitted later than her producer Tommy Mottola was right making her a big ballad singer so as to grow with your audience as they age too.
