her sense of humor is priceless:D and guys who think she should speak more slowly, I wanna say to you that yeah, she could do that, but why should she, since Dutch people speak like that, or even faster? That's how you learn to understand the way they speak, and that's how you can develop a proper intonation and pronunciation. You just have to pay attention, keep rewinding the video, and try it over and over again, it is not impossible.

You can also slow the video down to .75

Aside from this being just a bit too fast, and lacking in repetition, this is mega helpful! I love the little anecdotes you give about Dutch culture. Thank you for doing this!! I just started teaching myself Dutch recently and this is awesome.

This is useful for whole-phrase memorization and their English expression equivalents, but alongside that, could you please give a literal translation for the Dutch prompts and responses so we can get a better grasp of the Dutch grammar? Thank you! EDIT: People say the pace was too fast for them, do they not know that they can use the left arrow key or double tap the left side of their screen to rewind as many times as they need? ;)

You can also hit the "gear" icon and change the playback speed. Usually it's quite intelligible even slowed down.

Dutch USED to be taught in schools in South Africa... though not mandatory or optional as part of the general curriculum, it is still an optional tertiary language at certain schools and institutions. Afrikaans is very similar to Dutch and is actually an off-shoot of old, high-Dutch. As a result, Afrikaans speakers can thus generally understand the Dutch speakers (at least to some degree anyway) - but to us, it sounds like a whole lot of slurred slang with an "american" accent. it's quite odd.

Ja nee man dis vreemd. 😂 Just kidding but I see you definitely did your research on this topic as a resident of South Africa I can see that.
