1. To be able to run it with 6S you need to change your esc for a 180 amp esc ! Your lipos are ok.. The 120 or even a 150 amp esc cannot handle 22.2 v ..thats why your lipos get hot. Look at a hobbyking seaking 180 amp esc . 2. In order to calibrate your esc with your control ...plug the batt to your esc , before you turn on yout esc put the trigger to the full throttle position , the esc will.make two beep sounds , then let the trigger to neutral pisition , the esc will make another beeping sound and stop ...you are all set.... With 2x3S 5000 mah batt you can run it hard for 5 mins. No problem. No heat issues at all...change your esc now ...

Change your Deans Style connector to 5 or 6mm bullet plugs. your motor and esc draw more amps than they can handle, and rob you of power and creating heat in your lipos . Lipo packs for a boat should have a minimum of a 40c continuous Discharge Rate as well. Try a Octura x445 prop with these changes and your boat will fly across the water.

Thanks for the input Kurt :) I replaced the connectors with XT90's (cause my lipo's had that connector).. The 90C lipo's I mean.. That combo was an improvement for sure.. I have not tried different props yet.. Thanks again :)

@DutchRC
@DutchRC 7 жыл бұрын

For hobbywing esc if there is no difference on 75% throttle and 100%, you d better check if the motor connection is backwards. You may need to reverse the motor connection and transmission setting. the These ESCs have a 50%power limit for backwords.

Hmm, that is interesting. Seems like it has lots of power, but not all that much speed (For 6S). Perhaps it is under propped? Any idea how many amps that pulls? Seems like those big batteries, even with a low C, should be able to handle it because of capacity?

I couldn't understand why my zelos 36 was so slow but with some new turnigy graphene 5000 3s 65c or 70c it was night and day and back to being a beast. On this newer Pursuit I didn't really find Issues with the setup.. It does leave you with more options for the battery placement by the way.. Other then that I have to again say most of my other builds were completely different (bigger boats.. yet propulsion etc).. For me this Pursuit wasn't really fast enough with the stock setup, but I don't think that has anything to do with the layout..

Good video!Still looks slow I have those same lipos and there good lipos for 3800 capacity you should have only ran that boat for like 3min the most. I still have to say your hull is running wet it's trimmed to be pushed down in the water .... On a chop water like you shown a boat should pop up and out and jump a bit across the surface if it was set up right for a smooth water surface... I think you need to angle up the rear trim tabs a bit and adjust the prop angle up a bit in the rear and it will scoot faster along the water.
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 8 жыл бұрын
+shenlonco Okee.. what if I would not want the boat to jump / pop up? But yeah I agree.. It probably is running to wet.. I'll indeed turn up the trim tabs on a next run (or even remove them alltogether)..

@ShenRC 8 жыл бұрын
You got to play with it a bit adjust the trim tabs up a bit see how it goes and then if you can adjust the prop angle up a hair try that out , you don't want the boat popping out of the water you want it raised up so it skims across the waters surface smoothly.

That stinks,with 6 lipo that should have really tore it up. I am thinking that a different ESC would change things. Yes I know,you shouldnt have to,but,sometimes its better to throw the baby out with the bathwater. If you cant get what you need,its time to do what is right. Remember its called a " Speed Control". I change them out in my Dynam planes and recently had to on my Apprentice so I hold no love for the installed ESC's. If I can get more power from a Turnigy,guess what I am using..... Its a nice boat. Clearly the motor can handle it. I just think the Speed controller is choking back on all that power. thats why the batterys were so hot. I know the ESC wasnt hot, but it wasnt letting out all the juice eather.

@AB-80X
@AB-80X 6 жыл бұрын
@Dutch Adventures Not sure why Will is telling you that this motor is not 6S capable, it most certainly is. It's a very conservative setup in fact and it's rated for 37 volts to be exact. Not sure why anyone would give advice when they don't know what's what. What I'm struggling with is the fact that TFL chose a motor with a 1620 KV rating which is simply not enough for this setup. The prop needed to get some good speed, will be too big and cause drag and prop torque issues. I guess they tried to build a very conservative setup that was super safe. Best thing you can do is this. Get either a new SSS 3674 2000 KV motor or even better, get one of these in the 9D spec. It will run strong on 4S and be blisteringly fast on 6S - and you'll even save some weight. While they are not the cheapest nor most expensive motors out there, the TP motors is pretty much only rivaled by Lehner. Castle, Leopard, NEU etc. are not even close. TP Power is the best kept secret in the RC community. www.tppowereurope.com/Webwinkel-Product-49252497/TP3630.html

@pietlopsa9164
@pietlopsa9164 8 жыл бұрын
yeah or just a bigger prop. If you have too much pitch you might get a problem with cavitation.
@AB-80X
@AB-80X 6 жыл бұрын
Piet Lopsa How on earth can too much pitch create cavitation? Do you know what cavitation is? Too much pitch will simply strain the powertrain and boil everything. On top of that, the boat will perform poorly as in having a hard time getting on plane, cause ventilation, blowouts etc. But too much pitch will not cause issues with cavitation in an application such as this. In surfacing applications you normally see cavitation in situations where you have a damaged prop. That goes for RC boats as well as full scale powerboats. What to look for is cavitation burns. Damage to leading or trailing edges or nicks in the blade etc. will cause cavitation. If you keep your prop free of stress risers and blend in nicks, you don't have to worry about cavitation or sheared blades.

This is ridiculous slow for 6s... pretty useless to use deans for anything above 3s... get proper batterys and connectors
@DutchRC
@DutchRC 3 жыл бұрын
