You do good work with your videos. I appreciate all you do. It really helps me and I'm sure many others. I tried out both the Banyan and the Ridgerunner. Got to say, the Ridgerunner is my preference. The TWO ridgelines of the Banyan are a showstopper for me. Too much hassle getting in/out. The ridgerunner has everything I need and with the saddle bags more storage than I use, I have many dutch products and have been very pleased with his stuff but in this case I am going to Warbonnet for a bridge hammock. Again, thanks for all you do.

Thanks for the positivity! It's always about finding what works best for you. Personally the 2 ridge lines are what I like about the Banyan, but if that's too much for others, I completely get it!

I'm with you! I bought one too as I am also a side/stomach sleeper but I do want to be able to remove that bug net when the bugs aren't a problem! I had nearly given up hammocks for that reason but went out once so far and tried the Bridge Hammock and loved it. If you've told Dutch about it, I'd bet he'll go back to having all 4 bones on the ridgelines.

The shelf can be modified to make it disconnect easy. I'd play with some prussik soft shackles and loops on the shelf to attach them to.
@SpiguyverBackpacking1
@SpiguyverBackpacking1 2 жыл бұрын
Sure, you can rig it up to do something, but it's not going to hold items quite the same as it does while it's fully attached to the ridge lines. To me this is an oversight that should be corrected. It's easy enough, just add the same connection points on both foot and head end and you're good.

Was really hoping this was going to be a Wide version, but think now i am going to give the Haven Safari a try, as a primary for my wife and kids. And if it fits me well, i'll buy the regular Haven XL for the occasional back country trek where i want something other than my Chameleon or XLC.

If you get a chance I'd love to see a video for under quilts on the new Banyon. Curious if a tradition gathered end under quilt would work (i.e. HG Incubator)

I have a Ridge Runner, and I’ll probably never go back to gathered end hammocks. Awesome news that the bars are way lighter now. Maybe warbonnet will jump on those bars too.

never tried the banyan yet. just got a new double layer ridgerunner which has some changes from my old one. as a side sleeper who rolls from side to side, the bridge hammocks are a good option for these old bones. agreed, I don't sleep well laying on the ground anymore.

Hammocks were a big change for me, in the positive. I was resistant to bridges until I finally went for it. Now I'm all in on bridge hammocks.

Something like this or a haven hammock tent. Need something for moto camping that’s versatile and flat lay.

It is a comfortable hammock and at 6'2: I won't be using any storage bags at the head or foot end. One regret is that I have the single layer version which I ordered not knowing a double was coming out.

About that suspension / bugnet problem: What if you just don't have that ridgeline shelf over you? Seems like a lot of shelving if you could have the head, foot, and side shelves already.

Awesome video. I just ordered a double layer version of this hammock this morning along with a 12 foot bonded xenon ultralight tarp. My only concern with the bridge hammock is puncturing the tarp getting in or out. Any suggestions on how to avoid this?

There are ridgeline organizers that attach with Velcro, you might consider changing over to them or modifying your existing organizers if possible. Great video. I am seriously looking at getting this hammock and appreciate your opinion.
@SpiguyverBackpacking1

Yeah, this one is different though since it incorporates the shelf which is extremely useful with the dual ridge lines of the Banyan.

While it’s quite a bit different than the Banyan, take a look at the Big Boy Bridge from Towns End Hammocks. Might be a good option. You can find my review of the Luxury UL that they make which is the same dimension just a lighter version.

I head the spreader bars were 4" shorter, notice any difference in lay?
@SpiguyverBackpacking1
@SpiguyverBackpacking1 2 жыл бұрын
Glad you asked this. They aren't 4 inches shorter, they are each (head and foot) about 1.5-2 inches shorter. But the original ones really pushed the hardware out to the sides, probably close to an inch on each side. I really think the length these are is the length they should have been all along. There is zero difference in lay.
