Here's something that I find curiously missing for attitudes towards feral ghouls. Mercy. Not as a reason to spare their lives, but to end their suffering. A feral could very well have been living that way for as long as long as 200+ years. The in canon reason is that the brain deteriorates due to radiation. The only group that might have the resources to deal with ferals on a medical level could be the Institute. Otherwise there is no way anyone else in the Commonwealth has to cure a feral back to normal brain functions. Now ask yourself would you allow a loved one to suffer for years, decades or even centuries as a feral? No I think it is far kinder to "pull the plug" than let them attack anyone else. The Brotherhood treats putting down ferals as a hateful or valorous thing. What Clarke is doing isn't kindness it is about making himself feel better, not the ghouls.

the commonwealth brotherhood's own brand of fanaticism is kind of just ridiculous on it's own merits even if you believe in the reasons for the brotherhood as a whole's existance. The whole "ghouls being abominations of man's folly" is consistent with their beliefs, but you'd at least think that the railroad or something would have the outlook that ferals deserve to finally rest after 200 years of roaming the wasteland, to be given one last human kindness. it's odd.

Idk if Bethesda “loves” the BoS, they’re painted as fascist in every game, that doesn’t feel like love to me, but they are way more fleshed out than any other faction, so maybe you’re right 🤔

BoS is in a position, that it needs to serve two groups, the casuals and the hardcore fans. BoS is the face of Fallout, that Bethesda paid millions for and wants many more millions back, the casuals come for the power armor and the laser rifles, hardcore fans demand that there is some more deepness to them to keep them somewhat engaged.

I completely agree with you, the minutemen could have been a completely better side quest and overall distinct play through possibility for fallout 4 as a stand-alone, the brotherhood of steel is mentioned in every other game and the minutemen are not

​@RedDogForge nope the community only seems obsessed with buffing/redesigning the minutemens wardrobe. I've seen a mod that planned to expand the story of the minutemen however that mod has been a working progress for ages. There are a few mods that add some content to the minutemen like sim settlements 2 and America rising 2 legacy of the enclave, however in both these mods the minutemen aren't the focus. There's also sim settlements Conquer where you fight against the minutemen in multiple quests, but they are the antagonists so you can't really side with them against the raiders

This is a good quest. Obviously Clarke is wrong about ferals but still I feel bad for the guy. He’s got a good heart but he is putting the BOS in danger by having so many ferals in the airport basement. Also Kells gets on my nerves. He is human but man he acts like a Courser.

@@renaigh Ok what about those who don’t have power armor? Imagine a scribe or initiate just checking on supplies in the middle of the night and multiple ferals jump you(like a horror movie). My point is that those ferals would lead to casualties.

This quest should’ve been a mandatory Quest for the BOS Main Story so that upon its completion (should you have eradicated the Ghouls) the BOS would eventually start occupying the Airport Interior.

28:30 So this is something, that buggered me ever since I first played this mission back in the day. A local airport's info-desk is one great logical place to present to a player, that gives you some idea of local landmarks to go visit in the game, but it should be way sooner and easier than it happens in Fallout 4. When you've reached this point with the BoS, you've already most likely gone around downtown Boston, not to mention, that you are a Boston local, that would know many of these spots already from pre-2077. At least when people guide you to Diamond City, you know, what Fenway Park is, but you would not know, that there is an entire city built into it.

Killing feral ghouls means showing mercy to them. Better to die than live like that. And they are also a threat for people. Same with super mutants, though they usually don't mind being super mutants, but they are still a threat to everyone.

It would have been nice if the level headedness, fairness, and respect the BoS had in this iteration had carried over into the Fallout show. Sure there can be some brutal situations, but the level of fear the lower ranked initiates had, and the severity of the punishments they endured was a bit too much.

Well worth it . I took a break to play Starfield and went back to fallout within a few months not even knocking Starfield. It’s an awesome game, but there’s something about the world in the fallout games. I never was a gamer until after I started watching oxhorn’s lore videos and I just fell in love with the franchise

I feel this quest would have been better if there was a ghoul that clark befriended. It makes the choice all the more difficult do you spare the ghoul and his feral ghoul family or do you execute the ghoul showing that you are completely in alignment with the brotherhoods radical nature.

I never really noticed it before but is the the voice actor "Tim Russ"? Since this every time I hear Kells I'm "Is that Tuvok?" (Tim Russ played Tuvok on Star trek Voyager, also was the voice of the players dad in Starfield and the mom was "Nana Visitor" who played Kira from Star Trek Deep Space Nine) Edit: I probably never noticed since I only really talked to the character like once in my first playthrough, after that pretty much just ignore the character.

They deserve as much respect as any living thing in the wasteland, and not be driven to extinction by small minded fascists like the BoS. Don't know if anyone has addressed this yet: canonically we know that one of the "boys defending democracy" in the intro to the first Fallout, is the protagonist from Fallout 4. Could the other person in the intro possibly be Cooper Howard? We know he was in Anchorage at that time and he did wear power armor...

Fun fact if you go to the airport before the prydwin arrives you can find a lot of ghouls there. Of course another group will so called "spawn" so the dialog in this quest makes sense but it is fun to do. Beware that since most people gun through the store to make the brotherhood appear you might be a low level so caution is adviced
