It was 2000 when Duur was released and I was just ten at that time and then Dhaani came. I went crazy for strings as there was absolutely nothing like them those days and then Sajni song and this stage performance last year. From Duur to Duur, I have grown up and thirty now and they are emotions for me. It's something which can't be explained but can only be felt. 20 years and still the same energy, speaks a lot about them.

As a normal bengali, did try to pursue my passion but left singing back in 2006 (I was just about okay, nothing special - dad discouraged rightly) but I have decided to prepare and die with these ears which can never be disclosed to anyone... man - this song, that guitar play in the background will kill me with madness one day.... Duur is back after 20 years with some 'classical tadka' by Ahmed Jehanzeb Wow!! 20 years since this epic composition was released and it still sounds so fresh every-time one listens to it. Thanks Strings for giving this to the world. For the 90s kids tracks like these and those from Silk Route, Lucky Ali, Euphoria have become anthems which have remained timeless and stood the test of time even now. These are the songs we jam on guitar when we get together with friends and guess what they come so organically - proof that we have internalized these tracks so much into our souls :) Coming to Duur - Guess what they could do to make it better - blend some Ahmed Jehanzeb into it. This jugal-bandi rocked!! I always attributed this song to Faisal's characteristic vocals especially in the lower registers and Ahmed Jehanzeb adds a completely new classical dimension to it so beautifully! And all this over a live jam setting with their raw vocals - which in the era of lip-synch, auto-tune is so nice to see :) Somehow I see Strings has really incarnated as a band, while Coke Studio was great as a platform they contributed to, it's great to see them back in their pop album scene with their album - 30, and each of the tracks were enjoyable. I hope their live stage shows resumes post the COVID thing. They still have so much music in them even after 30 years of entertaining us. Wish them the best. Coming to this rendition - what energy, stage presence by the whole band and vocals by Faisal and Ahmed. I just discovered this yesterday and have been hooked onto this ever since. I discovered Ahmed through Coke Studio, still recall the amazing track he did - Khaki Banda and have been a fan and hence it was incredible to see him and Strings come together on this. While the overall arrangement is the typical Strings stage rock-ish arrangement with a couple of electic guitars, keys and drums, the novel element definitely was Ahmed's vocals. Its amazing how beautifully he fuses his classical parts into an existing classic without it appearing forced or out of place. Special mention to the classical sargam that he seamlessly fuses into the composition following the raag based composition (based on the sargam, it looks like Raag Tilak Kamod. Can someone validate that? ). Truly speaks of his mastery. The other thing you notice in any typically stage show is the enthu of the band - especially Aahad Nayani - the drummer who is a regular in Strings band now. You would have also seen him in Coke Studio. I am intrigued by the way he single handedly infuses the energy in the band, that too remaining in the background, quite literally! :) Can't help him noticing jumping around while sticking to his beats immaculately at 05:44 :D Overall, a version that I would come back to occasionally for sure, while also listening to the original which is a classic. Look forward to more live jams from #Strings! :) Love, Prabhu
@musicdilsebyprabhu31384 жыл бұрын
My 'Aha' Moments: 1) The initial semi-classical part by Ahmed at 00:15 2) The classic Strings guitar sound at 01:03 played by #BilalMaqsood. 3) When Faisal starts 'Duur se koi aae' at 01:06. I don't know why, but it always gives me goosebumps. Like Strings, Faisal's peculiar voice is also so timeless. And Ahmed joining him is amazing to listen 4) Ahmed rendering 'Saajana' with so many harkats and taking to a much higher pitch at 01:56 5) Ahmed singing the 'Duur se koi aae' part in a classical way at 03:29 6) Faisal singing 'Samaa' with a beautiful harkat at 03:36 :) 7) When Ahmed sings the alaap in the background and Faisal sings the Duur part at 03:43 8) The classic guitar solo of Duur!! at 04:00 9) The way Ahmed sings 'Jaise koi suna gaon' and takes the melody to a crescendo 04:53 10) The amazing sargam that beautifully fuses with the raag of the song by Ahmed at 05:13 (the sargam he sings "pa ni sa re ga sa re pa ma ga.... sa re ma pa ni... sa re ma pa ni sa" - is characteristic of Raag Tilak Kamod if I am not mistaken. Can someone confirm? :) ) 11) Aahad the drummer jumping animatedly! It's always such a pleasure to watch him! :) Also the amazing guitar solo there at 05:44 12) The friendly banter by the vocalists at 07:00 :) 13) The final alaap by Ahmed at 07:24 14) Random observation - but did someone notice the similary of the 'oho o oho' part at 07:52 with 'Dekha Hai Aise Bhi' by Lucky Ali? (Or is it just me? :P ) Feel free to add. your 'aha' moments :)

This should be the face of Pakistan, there are so many artists of international caliber, Pakistan should be the country of music they have many blessed artists. Love from India, the youth of Pakistan will be the key to change the image of Pakistan. Go for it brothers and sisters you've suffered enough. All the best. This performance was crazy, international audience and artists would be surprised if they see a performance like this.

I hope Indian artists (the sane ones) also become the face of India. You're also blessed with good artists. I hope the youth of your country changes the image of India because dude, Pakistan's image has been changing for quite some years now. You don't know about it because you live in a country where Pakistan bashing is the norm so don't judge from there. Just a friendly advise. All the best.

@@aamnahere6250 You got me wrong gal, I wish the best for your country, I am also aware of the current situation in my country and I was not judging but it was rather a wish for the good, is that bad?? Best music always came from Pakistan apart from UK... as far as India is concerned apart from the heady days of hindustani classical it has been average .. now classical is dying in India while I notice it is thriving in Pakistan. . Till RD Burman was there it was another level! Every Pakistani band or singers has been lifelong fan of the late maestro RD Burman
