First met Duved at Anglesey and found him to be a gentleman. His revival of 1920’s music is absolutely brilliant! Keep it up Duved.

The gypsy jazz world needed a guy like Duved. Someone who prioritises musicality over virtuosity. (Though he possesses both)

Thanks for uploading the entire concert!! Duved really has mastered the original 30's sound it's like being transported back in time when you hear him play it's fascinating! To bad there aren't any Duved improvs on original Django tunes available on youtube

On the top three of my favorite concerts at the Django Festival, it was genuine, not only the musical approach for the 30's style, but even the clothes that your were wearing. You are very inspiring and we'll keep on learning from the best, which is you guys :)

I attended the Django Festival in 2006. I have loads of photographs that I took throughout the grounds of the festival. Dennis is in several of them. I don't think he performed on stage that year but I saw him a few times out in the crowds and even saw him play his guitar. I even stayed in the same hotel where he was staying. One of the highlights of all of the musical performances I've ever attended in my life was the Samois festival that year.

C'est mon papa qui m'a fait découvrir cette musique avec Grappelli et Rheinart. J' ai eu la chance dernièrement d'écouter un concert avec Simba Baumgartner, the krief brothers que du bonheur .

Absolutely fantastic! Hearing the whole set the fifth time now. Love the tune "Louisiana" here, but couldn't find it elsewhere on the web, it sounds just like the changes from Rose Room.
@TWELS20 Жыл бұрын
The tune is best known from the recording that the Paul Whiteman Orchestra made in 1928 with Bing Crosby vocalizing and Bix Beiderbecke playing a coronet solo. Also, check out the Roy Fox Vitaphone version from 1929. You just need to know where to look! 🙂

Denis, have you thought about doing a course where you teach the rhythm parts to the repertoire you play with Duved? And explain, not just how to play it, but your thought process, the rehearsals, etc.? This is one of the best bands playing. I’ve never heard a rhythm section with this vibe and I live in a town that lives and breathes traditional/swing music.

Super concert ! Enfin des morceaux qui ne sont pas des démonstrations de virtuosité à 200 notes à la seconde et où on reconnaît bien les thèmes. Bref, dans l'esprit du Maître, quoi...❤❤❤
@claudefournier2144Ай бұрын
Exact! Pour ma part la virtuosité même si elle représente un défi technique est loin de m'épater, je préfère privilégier la ligne mélodique.

I have been listening to gypsy jazz for many years now and have to say that this line up comes closest to the original Django and Grappelli sound. It's almost eerie.

what setup is duved using? Strings and pick? and is that barault?
@SaccoBelmonte Жыл бұрын
He is picking far towards the bridge. That makes all the difference tone wise, the rest is his technique a-la Django.
