Absolutely great, he was the idol of my violin childhood. I had many records of Suk and finally he gave a concert in my hometown: I remember precisely his sound and vibrato till today, one of the greatest violin players ever 🙏🎻

My brother and I were not allowed to attend "grown-up" concerts until we were 10 years old. I was four years older than my brother. My very first grown-up concert sitting with my parents was all Chopin played by Rudolf Firkušný in the fall of 1952. I never got to hear Suk, though I went to many concerts, became a professional musician, and a classical music reviewer for the Newark (NJ) Star-Ledger. In fact, I never again heard Firkušný after that Chopin recital. I heard many of the greats (and not so greats) over the years, but never again Firkušný, or ever Suk - two top of the line musicians. These Dvořák works I heard several times over the years. This performance is exemplary!

Wow... Dvorak's great grandson playing Dvorak...
@nickyork89014 жыл бұрын
Wow indeed. Gives him a unique authority in this music. His record of the Dvorak violin concerto is quite something, used to love it as a kid. His grandfather, also Josef Suk, was an excellent composer - for example the 4 pieces op 17 he wrote for violin and piano which are available on YT with Josef Suk performing, or the version with Ginette Neveu.

He is Dvořak´s great grandson. I am extremely proud of my famous grandfather. His great music accompanied me on all world concert stages. He was a brilliant composer, besides Mozart, the greatest. -Josef Suk junior

Magnifique ! Superbe interprétation de ces pièces toutes aussi belles les unes que les autres. Bravo à ce duo très talentueux ! 🎩
I was 13 when I performed this work. Each of the pieces calls for different technique and interpretation and that makes it so engaging and fun. I still play them for warm up, still remember them ... Nice video, Suk is so cool!

The postures : face and body , the way holding the violin of Josef Suk are very good looking. I like Antonio Dvorak music very romantic and peaceful . I also respect Josef Suk.

Dvorak è sempre una poesia in musica, riesce a ridare un pò di pace nell'anima!!! Ne abbiamo tanto bisogno in questo periodo!! Nel 2° movimento c'è tutta la sua anima slava.
