Antonín Dvořák: Symphony No. 9 "From the New World" Op. 95
Joint Orchestra of Music School Pupils and the Czech Philharmonic Musicians
conductor: Petr Altrichter
host: Petr Kadlec
director: Joel Hána
Recorded on 10 October 2021 in the Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum.
The concluding concert of a project bringing together music school pupils from Czech Republic and experienced musicians from the Czech Philharmonic. The joint meeting of participants, which started in November 2019 and withstood the difficulties and pauses caused by covid restrictions, culminated in this concert. Conductor Petr Altrichter conducted the New World Symphony by Antonín Dvořák.
From Peter Altrichter's speech at the opening rehearsal: "Do you know what we can do to kill music? The first danger is boredom. The second is routine. The other great danger is self-love. But the worst is dead heart. And that's never the case with Dvořák!"
