This is my remedy for depression - Dvorak or Brahms Slavonic Dances because they are so uplifting even in minor keys.

Brahms' publisher asked Dvorak for some dances after the success of the Hungarian dances. They started as piano duets in both cases I think. And Dvorak's symphonies 6 and 7 were directly inspired by Brahms' 2 and 3.

Dvorak es uno de los musicos mas inspirados, cada dia me gusta mas, y estas danzas junto con la del otro opus son una maravilla. Que obsesión del publico por aplaudir cuando no ha terminado la obra, comparto las expresiones de odio del pobre director.

"Dears, who know the name of part from 29:53?" That dance is Opus 46, number 7. It is a skocna (pronounced; skotchna) a Czech folk dance which includes some rather cute hopping. Often wondered if it was the origin of the game 'hopscotch'.

The music used in DragonSlayer on the Nintendo Game Boy, one of the first action RPGs that defined a wide genre of gaming today. Part of it's popularity and one of the reasons it stuck so well with western audiences was the music keeping it in peoples minds... this music!

@WILKSVILLE; I am a classical violinist and also played in orchestra for more than 20 years...we watch our sheetmusic ofcourse, but we put the hight of the musicstand just about 10cm lower then we see the conductor and his hands, so that we see him "out of the corner of our eye" the whole time....so, no we ARE watching him! We must! Because he does change the tempo at times, makes us play louder or less, or stops us while we play,..whatever. So we have to keep an eye on his hands the entire time. I used to observe at what note his hands come down, so that I could automatically always check "where I am at" when I didn´t know the piece very well...we have our tricks!😉

Would be a fantastic sign of friendship among peoples if one day Kaczyński and Putin interchange conducting a classic concert of slavic orchestra music. The Polish composer still has to be invented though. Maybe Chopin piano concert.

@Hunga Bastah de Luxe; ...Yes, that would be very nice, except for the fact that they would have to study conducting and music for at least 4 years...what are the chances of THAT ever happening?!...Putin is way too busy attacking other countries and letting others die for him and his dream of a ressurrection of the "soviet empire". People like HIM would never even spend ONE HOUR trying to learn something that doesn´t allow them to show-off....Can you ever imagine Hitler learning an instrument or conducting??? Same with Putin...Bashing others, yes, learning to make music...absolutely not! Sad, but a fact.

@@natascha5864 I can imagine both of them learning music, after all Hitler was an aspiring artist who failed an entry exam and Putin did learn to play the piano. As for him invading the Ukraine the US would have done exactly the same. It's like Russia building military bases in Canada and the US being OK about it lol

I actually found the first quite interesting for this. Yes, it doesn't sweep you off your feet, but it does feel like a real dance for bodies. And the phrasing and articulation isn't the smoothed western sound, but instead firmly etched and well-balanced. You really could hear the pleasure of the piece coming through- this was no sleepwalk. Sure not a first choice, but still charming. The recording itself isn't that great- dynamics are pretty compressed.
