Possibly. I'll wait to see how the footage looks. I'm very interested in it, but I'll have to see if my budget can afford it. Even though the body is affordable, a good assortment of prime lenses will set you back a decent amount.

@MsJas666 A zoom in and a push in are two different things. A zoom in essentially crops the image and is considered unnatural since your eyes can't zoom. But you can physically move forward so push in shots are preferred. This is why a dolly or slider is a good tool so that you can move the camera forward for a push in.

The flags just needed to be tightened, which required two hands. Counterweights would help for long shoots, but for short run-and-gun stuff, it works well. Much more comfortable than say a XL-H1.

on my blog: Rig with the Atomos Ninja-2 on the Nikon D4. Once set up all I have to do is start Live View (in video mode) and start the Ninja-2 recording. When I cycle the Live View button on the D4, the Ninja-2 starts recording when Live View is on and stops when I shut it off. Each time the Ninja-2 creates a new file for the next take. I turn on the Focus Peaking to ensure perfect focus and it stays on the whole time (does not reset when Live View is cycled). Perfection! Dan at Vigorotaku

Your video definitely helped a lot in figuring out what kind of gear I need for videography. Much appreciated!

Wow...how far technology has moved up in just 11 years. Now there's BM pocket 6k Pro cameras that look identical to the Arri Alexa. Image what cameras will be like in the next 11 years. Mind blowing, and I can't wait.

JUST SO EVERYONE KNOWS, this camera rig is on sale for 63% off right now on amazon! Just search DSLR camera rig, it's around 600 normally and is 220 right now. WELL worth it, I've worked with one before. Makes shots look way better and stable. I highly recommend it.

I was never a Canon brand fan, because of they ubiquitous presence every where (something like Microsoft), but when I see this, I am seriously thinking of getter and XL-2 or XL-H1 while they still produce them. These camcorders are beautiful pieces of equipment, with great ergonomic shape, and interchangeable everything, meaning lens, viewfinders, and microphones.

@camaroblackmatte If you are a hobbyist then maybe, but for paying gigs, gear like this is necessary. See our "DSLR Commercial Shoot - Behind the Scenes" video that we just put out. You will see how on a professional shoot, this gear is used extensively.

@tman383 you don't have to buy the entire B&H inventory to get started, just a decent camera and decent mic, start by practicing on family events or do some short easy promos to start. then offer your services to your local church or religious institution(which can lead to Baptisms, confirmations, weddings etc.) or community center. after some time it can become very profitable.

Ye I bought canon 600D some month ago, and I'm so glad I bought one, cause it is a great camera for beginners, and it doens't cost a lot, I would say 550d-600d are the best cameras for beginners :)

to everyone bashing this for not being affordable, shut up, it's expensive but in his situation it's a more affordable rig, and he probably acquired this gear of a long period of time. I had a flip camera 6 months ago, now i have a t3i, a rig, and a zoom h4n. all bought with my own money, so chill out, get a job and soon enough you'll have your gear.

@ImAliveYeah dude, chill. Yes, by most people's definition, that's a premium L lens. When you say "Kit lens", most people think of the 18-135 or 18-55. which is understandable. But there is one exception. That is the 24-105 f4L. it IS an L lens, but it comes as a kit when you buy the 5D mkII. so it technically can be called a kit lens.

for the beginner from a beginner. Yes, yes it is.. BUT the shoulder rig and the steadicam you are talking about produce shots that differ allot. A steadicam gives you perfect stable shots while a shoulder rig produces feather like shake. The two different shots that come out have a very different feeling. for example. If you want your audience to feel the action while in a pursuit, you'll need the minimal shake from a shoulder rig. A steadicam is to smooth for this.

@ClavisqueFC don't use a dlsr for sports, if you plan to hand-held the camera to shoot fast moving targets, you'll get jello effects all over and ugly shaky images. DSLR are best used when doing smooth subtle or still movements only.

@NerdyNevermoreTV it helps prevent lensflares, but mainly just looks cool. if u really want one, they cost like 300$, but u can build one for less then 10$ diy. look up "diy mattebox"

Given the depth of field - they are using one of his video cameras to shoot with. Not to mention - there are people in the background! It's like he invited his mates around to watch star trek re-runs and eat pizza. Even the video cuts off unexpectedly at the end. Can't believe I watched this...

@movieguy101 Yeah I see what your saying... If u look around, there is no other companies making it.. its sad that the redrock costs $500 for the basic shoulder mount alone but I know it helps, I use the Sony nex VG10 so it has a built in type top tripod but nuthing else.. and I think I am going to need the redrock micro , im waiting until the price comes down or a new company w/ customer service comes out w/ their own line of carbon and titanium models!

@nemosis Yeah I started to get like that but then I realized how dumb it all is. You don't need a "rig" that costs more than the camera itself. Honestly I think people need to think of ideas and the actual content of the video more than what they're appearance on set. It doesn't matter if you have a $200 mattebox on your camera it's not gonna make your video any better.
