Badass! I'd probably play about the same stuff if I could sit down and mess with that drum, although I'd really want to open up on it but we get. Even with smaller speakers here (decent woofer) it sounded good at all tunings.. of course it's a D-Dubb!

What do reinforcing rings do to the sound?

Lex Leighton basically what a moon gel does to the sound without having a moon gel. To me it narrows the sound and takes away what you can do.

Nothing, really. They improve how the drum holds its tone, ( ya know, that compact, almost no overtone you hear ) But other than that, it's just to make the rim of the drum last longer. ( DW's Basically last forever anyway, so yeah. )

Crochet Daikon it takes away the druns diversity. Sometimes i want a little ring to the sound sometimes I dont. If i dont want, i add a moon gell.
