2024 marks Lars Ulrich’s 40th year with TAMA Drums. In celebration, we are extremely proud to release the Lars Ulrich 40th Anniversary Signature Drum Kit! Limited to 72 kits worldwide, this anniversary model features the exact specifications of Lars’ custom 72 Seasons tour kit, with Starclassic Maple shells, a vibrant custom yellow finish, and custom gloss black hardware. Lars was my inspiration to start playing drums for my very first band and of course I didn’t have TAMA. I had a drum set and the company that made it was called. “crest” it was my dad’s and it was 25 years old and he played jazz on it and I was playing heavy metal and the set was so old that it actually had real skins on it . we quickly figured out that this old set was not made for heavy metal and the lead singer of the band who was about seven years older than the rest of us. He actually bought a TAMA set for me to use . He knew I wanted TAMA. That was the only drum set I ever looked at, and it was because of Lars.

I was lucky enough to have the Tama rep let me play the Orange kit at a big gear show in my hometown when nonody was in the tent. It was one of the most awesome experiences of my life as he has been one of the biggest influences in my drumming! It also made me realize just how short Lars is...

Yes I'll admit that I'm one of those guys that would say something about his playing. I just want to be honest and not be a hypocrite. I must ask though... why is it that the older these guys get, the more I love them. I was there from the beginning. Listening to something like Ride The Lightning was "of the devil" to me. I absolutely love listening to Lars talk. I'm actually very proud of them.

My first kit was a white Tama back in the late 80s. I couldn't afford an Artstar or Grandstar so I had to settle for the Swingstar but still to this day have it up in my attic. Would have never got into drumming or with Tama if it wasn't for Lars and Metallica. Still play Tama and Zildjian to this day because of this man.

When I first started seriously playing drums as a teen in the early 80's, I played a Pearl export series kit. I eventually graduated to a TAMA kit like my heroes Neil Peart, Lars, Ulrich, and Dave Lombardo and been playing them ever since. I thought Lars' chrome kit back in the day was the coolest. I still have the poster of Metallica from 86 at Donington with Cliff on it.
