DW design series are honestly just as good as collectors if not better. I absolutely love it, mainly cause I just joined the DW family after wanting a kit for soooo long but it’s so worth it to just get yourself one, even if you don’t plan on being a serious drummer, having one is a pleasure on its own. 😍

From my experience cheaper drums does not meat worse sound. Just different. When I got more expensive Gretsch Toms Tom drums, I could not get rid of my cheaper ones because they had a unique tone that was still unique

I have it in 16, 10, 13 and snare 14" I really love the sound even with a 16" bass drum you can feel the punch on the kick. The drums are gorgeous and the sound is so good, it worth every cent 👍🏼 specially if you have to gig a lot

I bought this four piece kit from Sweetwater for 999. The sound can't be beat for the money. I added a DW black chrome over brass 14x6.5 snare and its perfect for playing the hard rock I like. The bass drum is a beast. Everyone comments on how great it sounds. Stock heads are trash but most people replace with the heads they prefer on any kit they buy.

Is this the first time some of you have watched a Sweetwater drum review or something? Do you not listen to what the man says? He clearly states and shows you, these are the ad ones that are available! Would you rather just “guess” at what the snare or 14” floor tom sounds like before you buy it, or would you rather nick demo them? Plus, in all his videos he says snares don’t come with shell packs, and no one gets in tiff about that? Just enjoy Nick’s demos for what they are..... AWESOME!!!

They do. The DW Frequent Flyer is a 20” kick. I’d say if you want one with a 20” that’s a good place to start and then find some add on’s if you want them?

I own the cherry stain version of this kit. As a gigging drummer I couldn’t justify spending $4,500+ on collectors series drums and the difference between the performance series and design series was negligible to me. I felt like I saved $1000+ by opting for the design series and I don’t regret it. The sound I get out of the design series is spectacular with replaced heads (the stock heads are awful). They’re the best drums at the price.

I bought the Satin White kit back in 2015. Amazing kit that I still enjoy. The stock heads are ghetto, so slap some good heads and it sounds great. It has been hard to keep the satin white clean, so yeah the piano black is nice.

@@wjb111 I've had clear EC2s, g1 coated, uv1s. Pretty much just Evans but I'm sure Remos and any other good heads are going to sound great. Got a nice emad batter and eq3 smooth white reso. Currently I have the EC2s but gonna go back to uv1s.

@@glanemann the Design series are awesome. I’ve read that they discontinued that finish for that very reason. I’ve never used Evans on my 2019 Special edition, but, you’re right, I think as long as you use decent heads, these drums are going to sound great!

I think I played the smaller version of this kit at a gc some time ago. They looked and sounded beautiful. A bit out of my budget. Otherwise I would have bought them. I bought a Yamaha stage custom birch. It was more affordable. I think the club customs are made in Taiwan. They are lovely to look at and play.

@@nicklopez4639 Hey nick. I had an original pdp set made in Mexico I think. The early ones looked like pearl sets. The tom arms and mounts were the same. Lol. I bought my kit second hand and it was missing the bass drum/ tom mount. Some time later my friend found a pearl set sitting on a curb. He took it back to his house and we stripped it for parts. Sure enough the bass drum tom mount was a perfect fit. Didn't even have to do any drilling. Just put that sucker on and bolted it down. I've long since sold that pdp set. Great times.

It’s a fantastic kit. Definitely a DW, the country of origin shouldn’t matter, most things here are made in China anyways. It’s like Taylor brand guitars, my guitar sounds insane but it was made in Mexico. Other countries do it better anyways, USA made stuff is becoming obsolete, we don’t even have a working economy at this point so Taiwan is where it’s at!

How black can you get? Matte Black. That piano black is a fingerprint magnet and will no longer be black as you use the kit.

Nick left the factory heads on for the demo. Those single-ply heads hold the the drums back. Once they are replaced, you get the full-on DW experience. They are sensational.

@@BrunodeSouzaLino Is Nick not supposed to play without a snare? You do realize it doesn't come with a snare so if he was playing a true 4 piece shell pack, he wouldn't be using a snare! It would save him demonstrating playing with the snares off and on as he does in all his videos since there wouldn't be one in the first place! Your logic is flawed with the car deal, I won't address that stupidity but I'm sure you run into that conundrum when you buy and new car or a loaf of bread. Either way, If you whiny cuck Beta's can't figure out the note difference between a 4 piece with no snare included, you need to keep continuing practicing Guitar Hero and leave the percussion configuration to the pros.

I don't think you'd watch a product demonstration where the product is not played and just piled while the demonstrator talks about it. If I go to buy a 5 seater Land Rover Defender, I don't want to look at a 7 seater with all bells and whistles. That's a different car. Tuning... couldn't care less.

He never just demos a literal shell pack as purchased. He'd have no effing stands, cymbals, mics, throne, etc! It depends on the individual. Kenny aronoff usually set medium tom, small tom, floor tom. Jimmy Chamberlin set up in a similar fashion.

@@frankspikes7858 It's okay to go from 12 tom to the floor tom, and it's okay to put a (partial) reverse fill-in in order from 10 to 12 and then floor tom. It's okay to go from 10 to the floor tom. However, the 12-10-floor tom has a middle-high-low note, is that common? Wouldn't it be known if the order was different, it wasn't until M-H-L was played continuously, well... It's so weird, it's difficult to understand and empathize, I am. If they had to have a 12-inch tom on the left, wouldn't a 13-inch or 14-inch rack tom on the right be good? 10-12-13-16(or 14) Isn't this better? is not it?

Gets me a pretty huge sound with the 16 and 18 floors, 26 kick, and 15 snare, I just wish I could switch to ambassadors already haha

Beware I bought a collectors kit in piano black lacquer and the finish was dreadful very very amateur DW are good with there advertising but crap at piano black lacquer they can't match the likes of Pearl or Yamaha....you've been warned !!!
