I rarely use Dwarf Therapist anymore because of it. The lack of mouse control in that menu can get tedious with many dwarfs, but it's still nice.

Anyone know where I can find and if possibly need be - buy myself a copy of dwarf fortress as seen above? Recently I've been getting into and trying old mudmaster games such as above, having started with Medievia, but as someone who's 25 and some of these old games were well before my time. To put it simply looking to find, play, and experience more of them as someone who loves old games as new ones, and finds enjoyment in them regardless of platform and year made

I can recommend the Newb or the Meph Tileset packages for beginners, you find them somewhere in the bay12 forums, or via a short google search. Meph Tileset brings a lot of tools that are quite usefull for beginners and on top brings a Tileset (that's where it started out) that makes it look much prettier. Though you can obviously switch it of or just get the plain dwarf fortress if you are into the ASCII graphics.

This reply is dated but for the benefit of others. Dwarf Fortress is free. A steam version approaches which may or may not be, but the core (ascii) is free and the graphical tiles are community. This particular play through is highly modded by the master himself Meph. (Community member) Basically DF is free, always was, always will be
