Went to the fabulous new water park Fallax Aqua today with my wife and kids. Free entry was nice, then shelling out £80 per person for access to the Mega Pool 5000 was cool - after all, it was free entry. We went down the water slide once, which cost £200 for little Timmy, and halfway down the slide we were told the park was closing. Weirdly, as we left along with everyone else, the gates on the other side reopened to allow guests back in. I asked a lifeguard if we could turn around and go back in, but the lifeguard said that he got paid a lump sum of £25, and that was too much money to violate park policy. 10/10, would visit again.

I'm not a game dev, but I am a programmer. I freaking love these vids, always so well done. Honestly, they make me think about, like... The D&D Rules section in the new 2024 Dungeon Master's Guide: The game is built on the expectation that you'll participate 'in good faith' and NOT try to bend it over backwards. They aren't trying to be working economies or realistic physics simulations, they're trying to create a fun experience for you. In programming, this is often called the 'happy path', where somebody A) knows what the system is for and B) is using it in good faith and not trying to exploit vulnerabilities. This vid is honestly showing what devs simultaneously love and hate to see: Someone not doing the happy path. Someone interfacing with the system in ways that it wasn't designed to be interfaced with. They didn't check if the OTHER pools could be accessed to affect pool rating, only that at least ONE could and if ONE could, then they must all be connected. They didn't check to see what would happen if the one pool they could access suddenly couldn't be accessed. Or if they did, they didn't do so while also making the computer the game's running on cry.

Personally I think the onus is on the creator/designer to make sure that there aren't exploits. Sure, it's virtually impossible to conceive of every possible exploit somebody might find but there shouldn't be many of them and it shouldn't be something you just find in the basic gameplay. I get your point about the spirit of the game and all that but I personally think the spirit of the game usually includes out playing the other players by any means except outright cheating.

@@thespiffingbrit Really? I heard it was essentially play-by-email but it requires you to use their servers to do it? That's redesigning the wheel and coming up with a triangle if I ever heard of it.

@@TheCynicalJedi + for console is - for PC. See point 1. Your first point is essentially "they are lazy" as a defense... Not a good one. Especially when, AFAIK, they had no issue with this in PC1 or any of their other games. Nor does anyone else on Steam. Regardless, even if I cede these points, it doesn't excuse the new workshop being less feature complete than steam. Nor the download limit.

Did you know ? Square waves are super dangerous because the concentration of forces at the corners makes them super destructive and, from the perspective of a swimmer, are pretty hard to predict.

I don't have to fear dodging the flames from the theme park. . . my neighbors do. As I will be sprinting around the coffee drinkers homes as the flame throwers spawn in. It shall be glorious.

Fine, you did it. I now own a Yorkshire Gold tin full of tea bags. I admit, it IS better than the other teas I've tried, but Tetley and Twinings are available locally whereas Yorkshire is an order item.
