I guess that makes Horst Link the Les Paul of drums…Both brilliant but VERY different sounding drums, I personally can’t stand the sound of DW toms but yet still believe they are some of the best made, Sonor is just different from all other drums in a fundamental way.

Thank God for John Good and all of the DW crew, I own a 2008 Collector's Series Kit and still to this day when I walk up to my kit weather it's on stage or at the rehearsal space....I get excited because I know what I'm about to experience...and that is sheer drum ecstasy!!!

I have a Collectors Series Custom Lacquer kit that I purchased in 2001 as my "holy Grail" kit. It cost an arm and a leg, but I sincerely don't regret the purchase. It's the best sounding and playing kit I've ever been behind. I've played a lot of really good kits over the past 35-ish years of playing, and I'm still glad I purchased a DW kit. Their drums truly are second to none IMHO. John and Thomas... thanks for demo of these unique kits!

We love you too and we're glad you asked! Before John Good made drums, he was a drum tech for some of the most famous drummers in the world. He became obsessed with what made some kits sound better than others. Bearing edges were a big culprit, and he would re-edge his drummers kits, but when he had those shells without hardware on them, he tapped them and realized that in many cases, a larger drum would have a higher fundamental pitch than the smaller ones in the kit...

We couldn't agree with you more. Such a pleasure to work for people (John and Don included) who are so genuinely passionate about what they do. They live and breath drums and although it seems inevitable, we're glad it shows through. No need to call you names, we love your enthusiasm :) Looks like you answered your other comment. Just to be clear, we absolutely offer many different wood options other than maple. All-Cherry, All-Birch, Classics (poplar/mahogany), Bamboo/Birch (Eco-X), & more

This is so amazing that John understands the tone interval between an 8" & 10" to a 12" and beyond. I have always hated tuning those two smaller size toms in comparison to the others because you have to tune them down lower to get the tone right. The fact that he's willing to share with the world and amongst all DW's competitors says how confident he is and the vast knowledge he has when it comes to making drum shells. What a master of his art!

I'm from Brazil, and I'm absolutely in love with DW drums. Mr. John is a genius, Thomas Lang is a monster that I love too. My dream to the future is to own a blue DW kit. I have watched to the video of the tour in the factory, it's amazing. DW 's the greatest of the world.

Videos like this are why I love DW. No other company gives as much info on how and why they make their drums the way they do. DW makes it easy to understand the differences between shell orientations and the woods that are used. Plus DW's sound great and their hardware is top notch. That's why I'll be picking up my new collectors ssc kit today!

Wow! Match made in heaven. The best drummer and the best drum designer in the world combined to make the best drum demo on the greatest name in drums. Maple/Mahogany is the undisputed king of wood drum sound. A very well thought out demo on the current technology used today in DW drum making. A work of art and Thomas Lang only proves the end result. I love my Candy Yellow over Giant Quilt Sapele.

Love that DW and John Good did this video with Thomas Lang...they could not have picked a better drummer to demonstrate these kits. I especially love this particular video because of the demo on the Cherry kit. John Good is the Les Paul of drums. I switched to DW almost a year ago and I honestly wish I had made the change sooner. I used a set of 5000 DBP for almost 20 years before I had to replace them. Soon after getting the 9000 DBP I decided to get a set of DW drums. Then soon after that I upgraded all of my hardware with the 9000 series. I am so much happier with my drum sound and set up. Thank you, John!

These really are amazing sounding drums. As an audio engineer, I always know that when I'm working with a drummer who uses DW Collector's that my life will be that much easier. John Good has put undeniable thought in too these shell (1st Kit all me,lol) configurations ... My first introduction to "Thomas lang" already looking him up on youtube...Fellow union Iron worker out here in the Bay Area & serious about music or finally able to relate too Another Musician on the job Site, brought in his smallest baby Tom to show me in the Parking lot "DW" stating 9~10~11 piece kit i forget, that every shell looked like the one he showed me. I knew of "DW" & no one forced it on me but i started to feel feel as If "DW" leading the way now, seeing who's been playing them the last 15yrs. then my Job site friend said some thing real Intriguing about "DW' using Logs in Lake Michigan over 100yrs OLD~? ... incredible how some one could think to use those, Preserved.
