No hate to this activity/hobby but they are NOT basically hurdling. If you're running a traditional hurdle race, not only are you sprinting and coming out of blocks (two technical athletic skills) but the hurdling should almost be imperceptible - you disrupt your stride and speed as little as possible. It's not a jump. It would be slightly more comparable in form to steeple chase, but in that case, you're running 3000m. An incredibly mentally and physically challenging feat to incorporate jumps into. Jumping does not make you a sprinter or distance runner 😂 No need to minimize the specific technical demands of hurdling and the ~20 hrs a week track athletes spend training to let these people enjoy jumping over barriers. They exist separately.

I wonder if I could enter the competition with a dog’s head on a stick 🤔 or an elephant’s, or a chicken’s… (like the piglet entering a sheep herding competition in the movie “Babe”). As long as I’ve got a stick between my legs and hold some sort of reigns, I’m okay, right?

After a few minutes watching it and seeing how precise, graceful and athletic the events were many of us, myself included, were sold on the Hobby Horse sport. I'm fascinated with it now. Go girls!

It keeps you fit, thats for sure. They should open up the sport for more disciplines. Like Hobby-brewery-horsing. You have to pull a truck loaded with beer, or lift heavy barrels, but with a stickhorse between the legs. Don´t know about Brian Shawn, but Eddie Hall, for sure, would give it a shot.

@@capper6100 I've seen worse. Stitching pieces of leather together, pump air in it, have 22 people running around after it. They can't user their arms, except for 2 of them. On both sides of the field they have 3 poles and half the people try to get that leather thing through it, they others trying to prevent it and the same on the other side. What proves it's ridiculous, insane and dangerous is that people came watch it and even get into fights. Meanwhile adults go on TV being very serious about it. By comparison this hobby horse sport is the pinnacle of normality.
@capper61005 ай бұрын
@@ErwinBlonk Describing things by their basic details doesnt make them strange. Taking football as seriously as many people do is really silly but if I described running around on wooden stick with some cloth stitched together to appear as a severed head of a horse shoved on a spike put between the legs of a girl who runs and jumps as if she was an unathletic two legged horse to be judged... it would sound way more silly that kicking a ball into some string.
