It is the corporate machine that took over country in the 80s. They want to formulaicly prescribe what sounds just this way or that and that is what we get. An original comes along and they dismiss them. They did the same with Chris Stapleton. Tell me he is out of a mold? He does his own thing and God Bless him for it.

The song is what you people should focus on but so many are commenting on the video . The video seems appropriate to me. After my divorce when I was depressed it helped me to walk on the beach, just walk. So what did you expect him to do with song? Tap dance wearing a tutu with clowns jumping through hoops of fire in the background? The whole meaning here is somber, not theatrical. Nobody's been there? I have.

Pete Anderson's guitar work w/ Dwight was pivotal! When you hear a classic DY tune, you immed hear Pete's signature guitar sound. Same as Wendell Cox w/ Travis Tritt! Love it still yes!

Pete Anderson is as important a right hand man/six string gun slinger, to a lead singer's success(being one Dwight Yoakam) as there has been imo. He's every bit what Keith Richards is to Mick, Joe Perry is to Steven Tyler, Page to Plant, Scotty Moore was to Elvis, etc...Anderson was THAT important to DY's sound.

I saw her on a talk show once and she was asked about Dwight - she said she would rather eat a dirt sandwich than go with him again. What a moron! Everyone has their quirks and habits - she certainly has shown the world some of hers. According to this song Dwight saw all he wanted to see of her and had all he wanted to do with her. Way to go Dwight, life is too short to mess with a crazy woman.
