Luv Dwight....been a fan for a long time....seen him several times, including up at Ralph's for his 50th anniversary. I like this version, but I still can't get past Jimmy Martin's. We saw him do it many times at Sunset Park. The way he holds those notes and the whole band is playing at 90 miles an hour....Jimmy just owns this song. It's bluegrass at its best!!
@hannahjohnson62147 жыл бұрын
Love Dwight or go home. This is just their version, and it's great. Dwight is not trying to be Jimmy Martin or anyone else, and if you were a real Dwight fan, you would know that. He's never changed for anyone. Stay on, Dwight !! 30 year fan and forever.

Oh good grief...the bluegrass police have sure done a number in the comments section here. Why not just appreciate it as a song, rather than as some test of whether it's "true" bluegrass? At any rate, the real problem is that Dwight's voice sounds like shit. Maybe he had a head cold during this song.

This song is kind of hard to sing becuase of the sycopation, so give him the benefit of the doubt. It is weak grass though. Were the hell is the harmony on the chorus? Wheres the damn fiddle? Jimmy is rolling over in his grave or atleast cussing up a storm. The version he does with Vasser and Nitty Gritty on the Circle album is f-ing perfect. Jimmy is like Hank.... you can do your own version of their songs, but it will be 50 proof.
@BLUTundGermany15 жыл бұрын
Jesus ya'll are puttin to much thought into it...its a Jimmy Martin song...old school grass. Dwight did it and dwight is a country singer not a bluegrass artist.
