Dwight does the best cover of this Hunter/Garcia classic. All of the Dead's music can be played country style, just need to feel it!

I never knew this existed but had always thought it would fit in this style of country music.

Yes, of course. I have some interesting, intriguing, personal reasons for why I really appreciate (in a very local area kind of way) • "The Streets of Bakersfield" by Dwight Yoakum and Buck Owens.

I saw Dwight Yoakam perform Truckin' on David Letterman's show in1991. It was the first time I ever liked the song, and made me appreciate Dwight.

I heard it over the sound system at Comiskey Park in Chicago in 1991 before a day game against Toronto. Slightly different version than this one, but it was great.

This is what Ricky Skaggs meant when he said Country rocks Bluegrass Rules this guitar style that started with Pete Anderson who was most of Dwight's style. Along with his persona

I stand by my opinion that The Grateful Dead were great songwriters, but their sound was nothing special. So many of their songs have been made better by the artists that covered them.
