I spoke with Dwight About 10 years ago when he called to handle a personal business matter at my then job. He was so respectful and humble. One on my most memorable clients. He truly is a cool dude. Inside and out!

I absolutely love when an artist takes a chance and does something from a different "genre". It's all just music people. I think this would have made "The Artist" smile.

I think Prince would have loved this. He hated being a human jukebox and always experimented with different interpretations of his music. He would have absolutely gotten into this and would probably sent him down a completely different direction creatively. What a wonderful tribute.

A lot of people try to put themselves and others in genres. I’m a GenX who listed to everything from bluegrass to punk, a lot of blurred lines. Dwight paying tribute is really nice. He is one of my favorites. An original.

I took my sister to see her favorite musician (Dwight) back in 89. She Promised me she would go with me to see my favorite musician (Prince). She didn't go with me but we Prince fans partied in Oakland California in 1989 with Prince ft. Sheila E on drums. I'm a drummer so it was a bonus for me. .......RIP Prince.

I always thought back in 84, Purple Rain sounded Country, but back then it was ridiculous to say out loud. Now I hear it in Country and it makes sense…WHO KNEW…?!?!? OH YEAH, I DID…IN 84…😁👍🇺🇸

Well, Prince asked his keyboardist why People kept coming back to see Bob Seger concerts. His answer, because he had a ballad for white people. That Prince needed to make a white person ballad. So he did in the way only Prince could've.

I remember listening to an interview with Dwight Yoakum back in 2016. he was talking about how his band came to do this. They were rehearsing omething else when word came in that Prince had died: "I just looked at them and said 'Purple Rain' and we played it."
