The wife and I went to Monmouth in Wales last week to see Albert Lee in concert (Albert has played with Eric Clapton and the Everly's) He said he was going to do a Gram Parsons song, this was it. wonderful.

In my opinion, when an artist covers a song, I think it comes out better when the person DOESN'T try to sound like the original artist. I like to hear a singer 'bring it' and 'own' the song.When listening to a cover version, please listen for the integrity and emotion, which Dwight never fails to deliver.

I don't really understand why this would be disrespectful to anyone or anything? It's a piece of music that anyone can sing/play/perform to their liking. If for some reason you don't like the emotion it arises in you it's no ones fault. If you like some other version better that's great but why to bash something you don't like since you can stick to the one you like and listen to that. In my opinion it rolled nicely as whole, the singer was a bit too much all over the place to my liking, maybe he's listening Mariah Carey too much. Both lead and background singer have great voices and the el-guitar guy was awesome! He pretty much proved he can do a job of a lap steelist with a telecaster and I guess quite thin set of strings.

Don't get me wrong, I like DY, but he is way over singing the song. He's being a bit disrespectful with the liberties he's taking vocally and that guitarists solo was shit (great tone tho). Of course, I'm one who thinks Gram is one of the best to ever write a song, so take that for what its worth.

@evanwilliams89086 жыл бұрын
Man, they butchered all the emotion of the song for their own egos. His vocals are inappropriate and the guitar solo didn't even bother with the original melody with the tremolo and I think he actually screwed up at the end. Such a great song at a tribute should be performed properly and any additions should be kept to a minimum because ppl don't want to hear your version .

I love Dwight Yoakam but have to agree. Gram had a great knack to get the best out of every song he sang. Therefore best to follow his path.
