My favorite singers of Elvis songs (in order they come to mind, not preference) are: Dwight Yoakam, Ronnie McDowell, Ricky Van Shelton, & Raul Malo (the Lead Singer of The Mavericks). This is the best remake of this song, you'll ever hear. Dwight nai!ed it! You'd never think it was a remake either. Wright's always been known to anyone's songs & ace them just as though they were his own. This is proof of that. :) Great taste in music, btw. :)

Hi Dwight I grew up listening to your music. My Dad always listened to & had albums of yours at home. Guitars, Cadillacs, & many others he loved & listened to. My Mom really loved it when he listened to you too. She always loved anybody who could sing or play a song with a beat. Something fast that you can dance to. All of your songs are huge favorites of mine. If I had to pick only one of each (A ballad & A fast song) it would have to be, I Sang Dixie, & Guitars, Cadillacs. I remember how much I'd hit the repeat on those ones bigtime. My Dad listened to many others also, including your hero, Buck Owens. Dad listened to him a lot too, & if I only had to pick 1 of each for home it would be Crying' Time, & Streets Of Bakerfield. I could never get enough of Streets of Bakersfield as a kid. When you sang it with him as a duet, that was a huge surprise because, even to this day, it's still one of my most favorite duets of all time. It's a country music hall of fame song indeed. It's a classic. Thank you & of course, Buck for all of the great music you ever put out. It sure brings a lot of positivity & more to all who listen to it. Take care & all the best of life & health to you. A lifelong fan of yours always. :)

I'm not really a country fan. But I TOTALLY LOVE THIS SONG. MAN, I NEVER THOUGHT IN A MILLION YEARS THAT SOMEONE COULD DO A MAKEOVER OF AN ELVIS SONG. AND MAKE IT SOUND THIS GREAT. ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVER. THANKS FOR THE POST. ENJOY EVERYONE.

You should hear ZZ top's version of "Viva Las Vegas," and Ricky Van Shelton's version of "The Ring Around Your Neck," both of which were originally Elvis songs.

This first time I heard this, it blew my mind. As an Elvis fan, if an artist is going to cover an Elvis hit, they better do it with style. Yoakam paid great respect to , The King, with this rendition of one of Elvis's biggest hits. In true Dwight fashion, he put his own spin on the one the greatest songs Elvis ever recorded, but he stayed true to the details of what made it so great. Even curling the lip as an homage to the greatest there ever was. Long Live The King.

Dwight...true to old school country music. The current generation needs to look back on what their predecessors were doing years ago. Don't need "country rock/rap".

When I was visiting my cousins he was playing at one of the casinos in Palm Desert......his tickets were very expensive (at least for me) for the better seats... So I am saving my dollars and whenever he's in the SF Bay area I'll be ready! I hope.

I adore his talent, have never seen him in person & he's Touring now, will be in Salina, Ks next week, at the Steifel Historic theatre. It would be an amazing place to see his band. I just found out! There are only a few seats left too. I just can't pay over $200 per ticket right now. He's in Albuquerque tonight!

What I love about this man is that he takes his hat off literally for his acting roles. He knows as well we do that there's a huge change in public persona when he does that. It just makes me like him all the more.

I remember being 6yrs old,I was in and out of hospitals till I was 14,I have a thyroid condition, so I couldn't go outside and play with other kids.needless to say, I schooled at home.I blush about this now..I stayed home 80%of the time,my aunt would babysit a majority of the time, and I seen this video one day,and I was hooked..Yes HUGE crush, and my aunt would laugh every time she had to play this song and video, because she said "Lisa you can't have a crush on a older man",and I cried...And I said "That's not fair,I LOVE him,and she laughed, but I was 10000000000% serious and said,I like his pants and how he moves with the guitar,I LOVE him,he dances like a man".Now I'm from Baltimore md, you NEVER see stuff like that as a kid.And I eventually grew up,and married a man who could be his twin, but my husband refused to wear tight pants. He called them "Butt hugger jeans".So one Halloween I BEGGED my husband to be Dwight Yoakam, and he did!! And EVERYONE said "Yo you look like that cowboy country singer" and my husband got embarrassed, but I was like "Thank you I've been telling him this since I met him".But if I ever got the chance to actually meet Dwight Yoakam, idk what I'd do. I just Love Dwight,he introduced me to country music. All of my friends were all into rap, goth, pop,R&B I did as well, but Dwight will always be the reason that I have a love for ALL music. But hands down Dwight best cover of Elvis, and YES I still LOVE Dwight. He was my 1st crush, and always will be..He's a legend to me.Hes also a true Gentleman. I wish he toured in Baltimore md, but not yet..Dreams come true..

Dwight Yoakam probably does the best of this song mainly because he keeps the country rock style in it and don’t change it other than his voice but he does excellent job. Elvis would’ve been proud of it.
