Iran: Jailed rapper Toomaj's friends fear for his life | DW News

It's been six months since the protests in Iran, sparked by Mahsa Amini's death in custody began. Hundreds of people were killed for voicing their opposition, tens of thousands were arrested. Most of them have been released again - but many remain in prison where, according to rights groups, they are being tortured. Among them are some of the most vocal supporters of the "Women, Life, Freedom"-movement - like rapper Toomaj Salehi.

Couldn't resist. It's actually horrific, the "corruption on earth" charge with the "on earth" bit showing you exactly the intellectual prowess of the mullahs and summing them up in a *nut* shell. You can search photos of the 70's over there and the women are doctors and scientists and such in bright coloured a line and pencil skirts instead of now, dressing like ninjas and being owned like an object. There is a difference between "speaking your mind" and " anarchism" and inviting people to violence against your own police and people. He'd been killed by the police immediately in the US if he was even tempted to harm a law enforcement officer, he'd be shot down in the spot, and the cops would be saying , " he was reaching for his pocket" and that would be the end of it. I have respect for the civilian people of Iran. There are so many Iranians that do agree with thier owns counties politics and it takes massive courage to go against a regime that is known to cut your head off if you don't agree with thier way of life. But then again, I also believe no other country has the right to tell Iran how to run thier country (...but that comes with tariffs and non support from those other countries that don't agree with what Iran does to thier own people). Crazy, and how do fix something like that where everyone can be happy, and live together in peace? 😢

she is clearly not inside Iran, she wouldn't be able to show her face otherwise without taking a massive risk. As for her looks, she is Iranian. Iran is a massive country that's extremely diverse, just take a look at the Achaemenid era map, it used to stretch from Europe to Africa to India to China. Those borders are long gone, but to this day we have Iranians who look south-east European, Iranians who look African, Iranians who look Turkish, Mongolian, Indian, Arab and etc.

Hazaras are NOT Mongols!!!! They're indigenous people in Central Asia. Mongolia is a Northeast Asian indigenous people, who are genetically, linguistically, and culturally related to Northeast Asian indigenous Mongolic people, including Manchurians, various Mongol sub-groups in Inner Mongolia in China, Buryats in East Siberia of Russia and Kalmyks in Southern Russia.
