Thai king's long stays in Germany a headache for Berlin | DW News

Protests against the government and the monarchy have been held in the Thai capital Bangkok today. Protesters are demanding greater accountability from the monarchy after it emerged the king had transferred the crown assets to himself, increasing his wealth enormously. Under pressure, the government has responded by invoking the country’s strict lese majeste laws and charging at least 12 protest leaders with defaming the monarchy. A lot of the anger is directed against the current king Maha Vajiralongkorn who spends most of his time in Germany. His long stays have become a headache for Berlin with the government being questioned by the opposition on whether he actually conducts state business from here. The government has said this would be unacceptable.

I don't think that you and many people know this. The King sent his young son to a school in Germany. That's why the king traveled and stayed there often. He wanted his son to get to understand what down to earth is about. If his son continued to live in Thailand, he would not understand that because he would be treated as a Royal. Being down to earth is a very important thing to help you to understand hardship of fellow human being. When his son who would be the next king, grows up, he would treat Thai people right cause he learned something good back when was younger. In addition, when the king came to throne, he fired a bunch of courtiers or servants because they were bad and corrupted. No question if they hated him for that. So, the king was afraid that he would be assassinated. This is a reason why he spent time in Germany. Many people really don't know what they say. That could cause damage to some other people. What a shame.

@@brayo144 that's really not necessary, all China wants is a military base and a port in Southern Thailand+ a canal A military base in Southern Thailand would make Malaysia more subservient to China since there will be a possibility of a violent uprising by ethnic Chinese due to unjust race based laws in Malaysia. Once they obtain a military base in Brunei, all of Indonesia would be under China's control. Once that happens, a naval base closest to Australia from Indonesia. Then armed uprisings from several minority groups within Australia if they refuse to yield. Depending on how elections goes in India, either they become a puppet state or be split into 7 smaller countries. Full control over Asia and Pacific will happen within 10 years.

@Roberto de la Rosa His father was a great king that did a lot in his lifetime for the people. I have traveled to and from Thailand a lot during the past 20 years and during his reign the people held him with reverence. Upon his death, the new king strayed from his father's example and as such is not well liked (although you would never hear people complain openly about him because of the law about criticizing royalty).
@dannyverdant
@dannyverdant 3 жыл бұрын
@@KenSexe67 don't get me wrong but I think the current king is focusing too much on how to be nothing like his father. Which is [in my defense] good cause no one should have to be exactly like their parent. But the problem behind his so called will to become greater than father dearest is the fact that he's currently going insane and look rather lost. As if all his dreams died within him. A mad king is no king at all! I am not trying to be rude towards the king (yes I said it, he is not my king for a king is someone I respect and he I don't respect!) but perhaps it is time for our people to join together before the Military decides to turn Thailand into a Godforsaken Military Power like the U.S and that's something out of my worst nightmares.

Rumor has it that he initially went to Germany many years ago because he had the blood disease (some said he had HIV, but all are just rumors. The palace never confirmed this) and Germany had the medical technology to cure him. It started by going back and forth. But later he got used to the country and started to stay there most of the time. Before his father died, it was not a big issue, since he was not the head of the state. his father, the late king must be great but he failed to raises his son, i always wonder why some people said that that person was great and blah blah blah but why his children are different than him ? thats makes me realised that sometimes parents always thinks that they are right and cant even understands their child cause they gives birthes to their little children and hopes to brainwash them successfully, unfortunately no, they was actually people with their own story and fates and destiny. if a king failed to be a king, it must be because he thought the responsibilities is just about wearing the crown and took the power and title despite he even doesnt want to be the king. just stays in germany, the king maybe gonna get killed in thailand anyway.

I kinda disagree. Let me tell you something, Thailand experience lot of coup d'etat and most of the whole world don't know about it. The reason is because the previous Thailand king can keep it under control. And most of Thailand respect the previous king. Monarchy not that different with other kind of government. It's pretty much the same. The world still controlled by the rich and influential family. Those politicians families are pretty much nobel family and feudalism. The good government is good government whether it is monarchy or not. But, I definitely prefer democracy.

Meanwhile Thai people especially teens and people who are concerns of this ketamine has make some skeptical consumption that this lot is the order from the palace itself. The third one has committed the the atrocity of making Lederhosen a thing. The fouth was mad, killed his doctor and committed suicide by drowning himself in a lake. The fifth, was another basket case. The last one was kind of ok, but ultimately lost the crown of bavaria forever. It's a pretty bad track record for the Bavarian Royal dynasty, if you ask me.

This king is highly educated, clever, and as a king, or like any ordinary thai citizen, he is enjoing his life. Ordinary thai people are having many mistresses, its part of the thai culture. Anyone who is rich will certainly live in lucsurious hotels. What is wrong in that. The thing that most of the commentators dont know is that the kingdom is cermonial and all the decision are adopted by the elected parliament and the govenment, and the kings job is to ratify and i think that doesnot require him to be present in thailand all the time. He is enjoing himself. He is free to do that and still the majority of thai people love him and me too. I think there is no need to show jealousy because is enormously rich. Dont forget he is a king.
