Jordan’s former FM: Tehran has less influence in Lebanon | DW News

Jordan’s former foreign minister, Marwan Muasher, says Israel has “no strategy” that isn’t a military one. Muasher observes that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s only plan is to prolong the war and he has only succeeded in radicalizing the Palestinians, Israelis and other Arab publics. The former diplomat, who took part in peace negotiations during his career, said the two-state solution was dead and that the only hope of a sustainable solution to the situation in the Middle East was ending Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories. Muasher told DW’s Tim Sebastian that Palestinians needed a “political horizon” or a majority would continue to support “armed resistance” as the only pathway. He also said Iran had lost its ability to influence events in Lebanon after it did not support Hezbollah as had been expected in the wake of Israeli operations against the Lebanese militia.

There is a two-state solution already in existence: Jordan is the real palestinian state, not gaza and the so-called west bank. A big part of the palestinians are citizens of Jordan. And Jordan has a huge palestinian component in its population. There are way more palestinians in Jordan than in Israel. Let all the palestinians in Israel migrate to Jordan.

You could separate the two communities with a population exchange: For example, moving all the Israeli settlers to the Hebron and Bethlehem governates and all the Palestinians in those governates to the vacated Israeli settlements in the rest of the West Bank; that would almost be a one to one exchange. Not that I live there or know much about the situation but there have been other such population exchanges.

Ending a war means to create "roads" to get a better integration o at least a better peace between the political belligerents. If the cause for the war were cultural actions that are considered as aside from the international norms, they should start working in educating Palestine, Israel or Jordan youths to acknowledge better international norms. From the political view roads of integration or of common agreements connecting them just to have something to start with would de escalate some of the spots or points of combats. Cultural unity at least in international norms among the youth and the means to provide them the necessary to access that education for example would connect to a more integrated regional agenda.
