@@Soraviel Are you then suggesting that it is NOT African countries fault that they don't have factories for production? As a South African, I can honestly say that yes, it is the fault of these so-called leaders that Africa is not self reliant. SA was an industrial powerhouse, but thanks to the incompetent and thieving ANC, so much manufacturing has been shipped off to China. Did you know that we don't even refine our own diamonds and gold? This gets bloody shipped off to first world countries and is propping up the Swiss economy! It came as a surprise to me to learn that we are importing 40% of our sunflower oil from Ukraine. I do understand that during apartheid, farmers were not providing for the entire population, but 28 years down the line, how is it that we have not closed the gaps? Instead, land has been reclaimed in certain cases by the tribal chieftains and more often than not, has become unproductive. We need to take responsibility for poor governance. @GN28 yes but none have the capital to create the massive agribusiness nessacary to feed millions efficiently. Hence why their is hunger when the land is so fertile. Africa is going though rapid urbanization making less farmers and more hungry mouths in cities. The only solution is for African nations to have access to the capital nessacary to grow their own extensive agribusiness that covers fertilizers, equipment, and expertise with both. This won't happen as long as the francophone countries don't even have control of their own currency or when America n Europe sanction fertile countries like Zimbabwe who then cannot access the capital needed to do industrial farming. The west has screwed them both ways cause they want them dependent and weak to their corporatations who will take any food they grow in the continent back to Europe or America or Asia. The only way forward is for the debt traps, coups, and economic warfare called sanctions to end so Africa can breath and be free after a hundred years of subjugation.

Population needs to be in balance with jobs, resources, nature and the environment. Having a bigger population in any country than the country can support makes no sense. Access to food, water, shelter and jobs should guide population levels. The worlds population is still expected to add another billion people to feed, clothe and produce pollution. Humans are crowding out all other species of plants and animals. Education and birth control are key to reducing poverty and hunger. Having a child that you can not provide for yourself is cruel and irresponsible. We need solutions not just sympathy. Endless population growth is not sustainable on a finite planet. Every country needs to "TRY" to be more self sufficient. When there are not enough resources to sustain a population something has to give.
