I am from Chicago, my wife was born in the Podlaskie region, my first time visiting Poland was in 2019 and we road tripped to a few cities including Wrocław. Neither of us knew anything about Wrocław before going. Since then, and traveling to many places in the world, it remains among my favorite places and I can’t wait to return one day.

@PacekBrudnyPlacek8 ай бұрын
Not sure if the date is the same each year but it started on 24th November this year and will last till 7th January. Christmas markets in Poland are beautiful visually but they may be overrated in terms of food which is usually tourist-oriented. Sometimes it's better to visit restaurants located nearby, at the market square, to taste local foods than overpay for it while visiting Christmas stalls. Not saying that all food stalls are of poor quality, just mentioning it so that you can be aware.

I lived in Wroclaw for almost 3 years as an expat with my family and it was a great experience. We still call the city as 'our second home' even though that we are living in another country right now. It was just easy for us to adapt and enjoy what this small city has to offer. This was mainly due to the city's long history, attractions and it's people. We still have ongoing friendships there and plan to visit the city as soon as possible. Thank you so much for this great video alongside with stunning views of beautiful city of Wroclaw. It surely brought back good memories :)

I have been a long time subscriber to Eva zu Beck's KZbin channel, and I must say it is a nice change of pace having her back on this channel doing segments where she explores various cultures again. Her KZbin channel used to do this often, but as of late, it has deviated from that theme to focus more on her personal journey and all the trials and joys she experiences living out of her vehicle. While I find that content interesting, it tends to be repetitive and, to be quite frank, a bit self-indulgent. It's nice to see her focus her talents on highlighting the splendor of humanity - with its vast array of histories and customs. I hope her channel also resumes its original content of bringing awareness of other regions around the world, and the unique people who occupy those regions.

My fear is that as Eva seems like she is more interested in settling down and buying a home these days, we will be less likely to see videos of her traveling the world.
@alphacause9 ай бұрын
@@ronbeaubien Setting down roots doesn't mean that Eva is giving up on what she does. One can own a home and still travel the world. Some of the best travel personalities own homes. Well before the Internet age, one of the best known travel hosts was Rick Steve. He had a family and a home, despite traveling abroad for much of the year. Eva's purchase of a house makes sense because, living out of a cramped vehicle, while exciting for a while, can get quite tiring. Having a comfortable place to settle down, between stints of travel, is something that any sensible person would do.
@MrDonJBerg9 ай бұрын
@@ronbeaubien Being disappointed in the prices in the states, I fear she will be disappointed with prices anywhere. Her only income is KZbin, Patreon and various acting jobs for the BBC and such. Unless she has 3-400K a bank will want to see a two year work pay slips to give her a loan..But she has been running for a long time now. Maybe she has gotten it out of her system and wants to settle down and who knows, quite KZbin and others in the future.

As eva has sayed she is not settling she is finding a base for a place to come home too but she will always be traveling after all it is Eva's nature to do so it's a passion like her grandfather was a world traveler that isn't something she would give up lightly and she won't be getting any average home base it will be somewhere off grid somewhere wild!

I visited Krakow on a separate visit six months later and must admit, I prefer the charm and character of Wroclaw despite the significance of Krakow. I understand that the two cities are similar, the smaller nature of Wroclaw suits my idea of a more relaxed city break.

I find it a weird choice of words and highly debatable how the harsh break in the city's history after 1945 is soft washed.
@stukafaust9 ай бұрын
@@henningbartels6245 I was surprised to see this on DW of all places but she is technically correct, the lands were returned to Poland from whence originally ruled them before Czechs, Austrians, and Germans subsequently settled and conquered them. On the other hand it wasn’t Poland’s choice or initiative (they were as surprised as anybody else by the border changes arranged on their behalf post-WW2). It’s also worth remembering Breslau was a real Nazi stronghold. During the 1932 elections the Nazis received 44% of the city's vote, their third-highest total in all Germany. In other words maybe the expelled citizens had to pay the price for subsequent events particularly in relation to Poland and Poles. Today the German heritage is much more acknowledged and respected. Two museums, the main City Museum located in the former royal palace, as well as the Depot History Centre have large collections and permanent displays about the German-era and the fate that befell Germans here at the end of WW2. Many personal items, photos, and stories are collected and brilliantly exhibited.
