From the perspective of Polish person, I must say that the omission of naming the perpetrators of the destruction of Warsaw is deafening. Polish people know that it is difficult for Germans to do, but it is exactly the reason that such a gesture would be appreciated.

While I agree that it should have been mentioned, I can't confirm that it is difficult for Germans to say that. It isn't the least bit controversial in Germany so say that the Germans razed Warsaw. The more likely reason for a German not expressly mentioning it is that it's treated as a given, a matter of fact.

@@azounx I couldn’t answer you right away because I was banned. If it’s true that Germans don’t have a problem admitting that they are responsible for crimes on civilians in Poland and the destruction of Warsaw, it looks like they may be comfortable admitting it to each other, but not to Poles. I am talking about my experience.

My mother had a one of a kind experience in the 1980s. She visited Warszaw with her polish friend living in Germany. She met all kind of people from a former minister to a poor lady. Our connection to Poland was special as her friend’s school friend was married to a Polish diplomat and there were Polish engineers working in Germany we met. Wonderful people. Good memories. And I also remember the delicious Polish cuisine her friend cooked for us.

Pierogi are fascinating food. They’re really everywhere in Poland. And they’re quite common in all Eastern Europe. Except Czechia - we literally never eat them, they are super rare and uncommon. It’s quite surprising that they never spread here and are almost impossible to find.

Very nice vlog about Warsaw, very nice to show people what it has to offer through this vlog. I lived in Warsaw for a period and have been to Warsaw and in Poland over 50-60 times last 11 years and my love for the city and country continues to grow. Have been lucky to be able to convince many friends to go with me in recent years and there are a few friends who go again annually so this could not make me happier that I have infected them with my love for this country. In November I organized a trip for 22 friends 4 days of Warsaw and most were very excited! I can only recommend it and such beautiful vlogs I can only encourage!

I appreciate the video, the host seems very likable, but Warsaw is much more than what is presented here. It is said that Warsaw is a modern city, but there is only 2 shots that show that and both have Palace of Culture dominating the frame :) Warsaw is also: great modern and contemporary architecture, really interesting museums (Copernicus, Warsaw Uprising), bustling day/night live along Vistula riverside and the biggest business center in the central Europe - almost every international corporation has its office there. Part 2 of this video would be great or simply just check out the english Wikpedia page :)

I'm sure you need to do another video about Warsaw. The perspective in this movie is very one-sided and is far from what can represent a truly accurate vibe of the city. I mostly saw the outdated perspective of a post-communist Polish city, It's still able to feel in Warsaw, but only in unique areas, which are disappearing faster and faster as they undergo modernization. For example, the video lacks mention of newly raised business centers in the Wola district, modern community, and living centers for the growing middle class, and the bustling district over the Vistula (can you imagine around 50k people gathering each summer weekend for meet friends, talks, and dances all river long within the city). That is what today's Warsaw truly is. DW, you have much more to show.

There’s the irony of a Polish woman doing a documentary video for a German video channel! Yes, history affects us long after we’re born.

@@NormanF62 My point is there's nothing ironic about a Polish woman working for a German station. Just like English people work for German TV stations, German people work for American TV stations, etc.
