40 years ago Santorini was a quiet island and the people talked to us. Today I find parts of Santorini to be a nightmare come true and all residents who are not forced to come into contact with tourists are retreating.

1 of the sad things about getting old - your touring life is over. 1 of the joys of getting old - you saw this (and many other) beautiful places BEFORE the crowds and expense got to the madness of these days! 🤔😱🙄

@@bertrackmunisz1684 Great that you still have plenty of time to get the best out of travelling! Too many folks leave it until they're retired but then find they don't have the health or fitness to really enjoy many places. @@UtkaMedvedTravels Unlock the magic of the ocean by baking some mermaid cookies. Mermaid Cookies Recipe 🧜♀✨ Ingredients: 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (like the ocean breeze) 1 cup sugar (a sprinkle of sweetness) 1 egg (the secret treasure) 2 teaspoons vanilla extract (for that dreamy aroma) 3 cups all-purpose flour (because cookies need a sandy beach) 1 teaspoon baking powder (to make them rise like a wave) 1/2 teaspoon salt (every mermaid's salty secret) Food coloring (think ocean blues and sparkling greens) Sprinkles (glitter from the sea 🌊) Instructions: Mix It Up! In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Picture yourself on a sun-soaked beach while you do this. Add the Egg and Vanilla! Crack in that egg and pour in the vanilla. Mix until everything is swimmingly combined. Dry Ingredients Time! In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until the dough forms. Sometimes it takes a little “wave” (or elbow grease) to get there! Color Your Dough! Now comes the fun part! Divide the dough into small portions and add your food coloring. Make it as vibrant as a coral reef! Knead it gently until the color is even. Shape Your Cookies! Roll the dough into small balls or use cookie cutters to create mermaid tails or sea creatures. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space for them to spread out like happy dolphins. Bake ‘Em Up! Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake them for about 10-12 minutes, or until they’re golden and smelling like a beach party. Sprinkle Some Magic! Once they come out of the oven, sprinkle them with colorful sprinkles while they’re still warm-just like catching the last rays of sunshine before it sets! Cool Down! Let them cool on a wire rack but try not to sneak any-I know it’s tempting! And voilà! You’ve made your very own mermaid cookies, perfect for any little sea explorer or big ocean lover. Dive in and enjoy them with a glass of milk or a splash of ocean water (kidding, stick with milk). Happy baking, you cookie-loving mermaid! 🧜♀🌊🍪

@ I don’t know. I am old enough and Was blessed enough to see Yellowstone, the Tetons, Pacific Northwest, the Grand Canyon and most of the Caribbean before the Internet. Now, all of these places are a mess. I live in a national forest and last year our volunteer organization removed 26 tons of trash from this forest. That’s right 26 tons. That’s what people do when they violate nature. So yes, I think people should stay home Or at the very least not Geotag where they are.

As a Greek descent, I would love to visit the place where my family comes from. Last month I did not know where my family came from, but now I do. I've always loved Greece, but now I have a more special reason why. I feel sad to hear that the people of Greece cannot have a day for themselves, due to too many tourists. Overcrowded places, loud people, the inability to sleep well at night. It's sad. I hope things will change in the future. But to be honest, this is by far the most beautiful country in the world.
