I checked out the Nihon Kiin pages. The best I can understand (and my reading in Japanese is far from perfect) is that The Japanese National team have regular training sessions and arrange friendlies in the manner of soccer teams for "reinforcement". Perhaps this game was one of a series of such friendly matches.

Many years ago China made something called "National Team", and when there is a team tournament, players from that team were sent. It was credited for making rookie pros much stronger quicker. So Korea started the same thing about 2 years ago. I guess Japanese started something similar as well.

According to www.goratings.org/, Park Yeonghun is presently the 7th strongest player in the world while (apart from Iyama Yuta) all Japanese players are ranked below the 50th place... So I guess it's no wonder that the Japanese National Team would ask him to 'spar' against them. Anyway, this game illustrated quite well why it's so difficult to play for influence in a diagonal kind of opening, so thank you for the review :)

Ke is pronounced Ko .. Jie = G. (G ending with e not a)

For an English speaker, Ke Jie name is something close to "Kuh Jee-eh". If you want to get the tones right, The "Kuh" is high pitched and even. "Jee-eh" rises.
