I bought myself the Topaz tools for Christmas. I think the results they produce are astonishing. As you said, it rescues some shots that would normally be discarded. I don't shoot in RAW, but it works well even on JPGs. I am very impressed with it.

Yes you're right. Occasionally I do some processing in Photolab and then export to Affinity Photo. If I then do a Denoise it also does wonders :) I can imagine that a RAW can help sometimes to extract more information, for example in deep shadows or bright highlights...

I've got Sharpen Ai. I don't often use it but when I do I'm always amazed by the results. 👍

If you need it, then it can do wonders indeed :)

Hi Jeroen. Started to follow you a few days ago (Dutch... but living in the US for 27 years already). Enjoy your videos that remind me how beautiful The Netherlands is!! With respect to this video, I absolutely love TopazDeNoise. I shoot my wildlife with a Nikon D500 (initially with the Tamron 150-600G2 but moved to Nikon 200-500) and noise is par for the course. I will always choose sharpness over anything else... Proper exposure is very important to keep the noise down as much as possible (always being careful with those white birds though!!). My experience is that if the sharpness is good (typically requiring high shutter speeds for BIF), DeNoise can take care of the noise. I use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. In my workflow, after importing an image in LR, I first decide how I want to crop the photo. Doing the crop before going to DeNoise (used as a plug-in in LR) significantly increases the speed of processing and reduces the file size. I stay away from Sharpen as much as possible as it "always" seems to introduce artifacts. Anyway..... ik heb met plezier al een aantal van je videos bekeken en ga de komende dagen (tussen alle ander activiteiten) er nog wat meer bekijken!! instagram.com/andywessels_photography_art/

Thanks Andy! And awesome photo's you make :) SharpenAI can indeed cause some weirdness, like it showed in this video also. But there are ways to fix that. When using layers for example it is easy to just keep the parts where it removed motion blur, but remove the area's where it is introducing artefacts. Using layers it is also possible to mix DenoiseAI and SharpenAI results :) I am planning to make tutorial video's for that. Seems like an excellent video for the upcoming Patreon project :)

Hi Jeroen, very interesting I have topaz denoise, more recently sharpen and gigapixel, I have always done the the processing first in affinity photo then used denoise personally I did not like putting pictures straight into denoise, but it's a great software especially for the low light images of foxes and owls. Thanks for the video

Good to hear Martyn! Topazlabs seems to excel especially in worst case scenarios. Motion blur, very dark conditions, etc...

Deep prime is a new one on me Jeroen so interesting to see. The interesting thing with Topaz is that DeNoise also sharpens and Topaz Sharpening also has noise reduction so do you need both? I did try a RAW edit in DeNoise recently. The results were amazing but the file size it produced was huge. Might be good if you are going to print. Thanks for sharing, cheers Keith

SharpenAI has the motion blur option. That is really unique, I have not seen any other software do this. It saved many photos I otherwise would have moved to trash... Deepprime really works well. Additionally I really like Photolab as RAW processor, so that combination is a no brainer for me... But the plugin for lightroom works well also I understood :)

Hi Jeroen. I tried the two on trial and chose DeepPrime in the end. Initially i found the global sharpen too much to begin with, but found the latest upgrade where you can sharpen later on, a big plus. Using Olympus systems, the noise is a big problem, but with DXO, my base iso is now 1600. (sold my Nikon stuff- too heavy) Cheers, Dave.

Deepprime really rocks! From Topazlabs I mostly use SharpenAI in case of motion blur. That is something Deepprime yet can not handle...

So which one would you buy to start Jeroen a package of Denoise and sharpen AI ?
@weylintracking-worldwide2 жыл бұрын
As I use DeepPRIME for the denoising I would get SharpenAI... But I do not know if you already have some AI type of denoising. As far as I know, SharpenAI is the only program that can remove motion blur. And really, just try that Mark, as it is awesome at doing that.

I've never used DeepPrime so thanks for showing this Jeroen, I'll give it a go. I find Sharpen AI can be hit and miss from time to time so I think it's worth having a few different softwares for editing as each seem to do things slightly different. I'm awaiting delivery of the Canon R5 so need some sunshine quickly! :-) Take care Jeroen.

For me, it was a 100% change over to DxO deepprime (pure raw program, lightroom user). Denoise + sharpen was just getting to much hit and miss for me... Especially sharpen brought some realy weird artefacts in complex feathering or fur.
@weylintracking-worldwide3 жыл бұрын
SharpenAI I only use for the motion blur removal. I don't know if there is anything else that can do it... But otherwise DenoiseAI and Deepprime work well :)
@weylintracking-worldwide3 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. I had some in this recording also. But the motion blur removal... SharpenAI rocks there! With layers it's possible to fix any errors. I should make a video about that :)

@@weylintracking-worldwide Motion blur for me is not allways a problem, as long as its the subjects motion and not your motion, brings a bit of life in the picture :)
