The first step that MUPh needs to do is to make sure all the candidates has already a deep advocacy that they are actively and passionately doing years before they compete plus a dramatic personal story of transformation plus their resume and background needs to be very impressive. Thats what MUO is now looking for. The image, looks, body, pasarela, gowns etc will just easily follow. At today’s glam, its very easy to make a candidate look beuatiful, but the deeper genuine features of the candidate is what they truly are looking at. Trust me.

That’s true. The new owner or era of MU organisation are looking for woman who are passionate about their advocacy, a woman that can be a leader and strive for change. They are looking for woman who can support and fight for womans. I believe MU organisation knows already that all who compete has beauty and brains, that’s why all 80 delegates around the world are there to compete. However, a woman can join the pageant and be a ‘pageantry’ but lacks to voice out her advocacy. I think when MU organisation did the interview to those girls, the question was ‘what’s your advocacy and how can you make an influence others for a great change’ These interviews aren’t there to know who or what this girls are doing in their daily life. MU judges aren’t interested in that. They want authenticity, leadership, compassion etc. That’s why USA won. Judges already heard her story and advocacy. When she step through that stage she is representing a woman can do. She is there to claim the crown so she can have the power to influence woman

i have desame insights as Joaquin and in my humble opinion the next MUPh should be like me who's been feeding stray cats and dogs since I was a virgin. In fact I have over 2 dozens of cats in my animal shelter that I feed from the money I earned from prostituting myself for a living. I have a wonderful and sexy back story that will inspire others if they can hear it I was also a victim of rape by a handsome well hung stud but instead of being depressed it inspires me to be sexually active & to accept that sex is an amazing thing to experience .

What do you mean by "don't overtake the national winner's camp"? As President of the MUP organisation, Shamcey has responsibility to steer the organisation/the camp in the right direction. If the camp is performing well, it's fine and Shamcey should just support and work with them. If not, then Shamcey can do everything within her power to straighten things up.

@@nicanorodejar7754 that's why I said "support" to mean exactly what you said. But not to take the entire control and detach her from her previous camp. And the fact that that girl won the nationals means that her team has the credibility to train her further. I say this with LOOOOVE: Aminin man or hindi, MUph has a lot of soul-searching, changes, and improvements to do. One very important thing lang na napansin ko, from Rabiya, to Bea, and now Celeste, is that MUph doesn't seem to let the girls shine. In fact, the opposite happens. Nawawala ang spark ng mga girls, that made them win MUph in the first place. This needs to change. Stop being so exclusive, and make use of the limitless pageant resources that we have. From our top notch designers, former pageant queens, trainers, communications coaches etc... That being said, MABUHAY KA CELESTE AT MABUHAY ANG PHILIPPINE PAGEANTRY.

Be true to yourself, Shamcey. The new owner already gave hints on what she's after weeks before the pageant. So saying you were surprised with the result showed how lousy your support was for CC. You relied heavily on the fan base to do the job for you. Where can we find advocacy materials staying in the profile of the organization's comms director and not in CC's profile? Celeste also wasn't able to communicate the specifics on how she is/can become a transformational leader. If this was IMG still, CC would undoubtedly be the runaway winner. Yet, I am still proud of her performance. Congratulations to R'Bonney! Pinay rule!

The content of this post speaks volumes. MUP needs to come together to strategize some approaches, plans, and frameworks addressing pieces of evidence of program outcomes, projects, and future plans of the Miss Universe Philippines to highlight the candidate's approach to a Transformational Leader. My two cents is to create a business model of MUP focusing on vehicles for change and force for good that MUP is committed to. I just heard Shamcey talking about the "Saving the Children foundation" but only a few people knew about it. Celeste struggled to convince the selection committee about this project which is why Miss Laos, Miss Haiti, and Miss Canada beat her to advance into the top 16.

To be honest, the MUPH ORG is only banking on the looks and styling of Celeste. Yes she had the most beautiful face, nicest OOTD and photos but the new era of MU is not just about Beauty, Body and Brains anymore. They should also have: solid credentials, empowering life story, good comm skills and a clear, tangible and well-established advocacy. They are looking for a TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADER and not just an ADVOCATE which Celeste is lacking.

I hundred percent agree. Miss Universe does not need Magna Cumlaudes and finished studies in a prestigious school in the Philippines. In our country, kelangan anak ka ng mga kilalang tao, mataas ang pinag aralan, magna cumlaude, iyon ang pinapaboran sa selection committee. Kakatawa lang isipin. Ang Miss Universe ngayon kung dito yan sa Pilipinas ay designer (hindi sikat) at hindi din magna cumlaude (correct me if I am wrong) at kung nandito yan mataas ang kilay ng mga organizer sa kanya. Pero hindi taga Pilipinas ng kanilang bansa was given an opportunity dahil nakita sa kanya ang puso ng isang maging Miss Universe ng bansa nila, nanalo! Sana ganun ang MUP!

My take on Celestes performance: Obviously, we didn't see the personal interviews so I'm basing my opinion solely on what was presented at prelims, which determined the top 16 for coronation night. Although she performed well, she simply didn't perform the best. Perhaps its more of her teams issue. She didn't have the best cape. She didn't have the best walk. She didn't have the best dress. She didn't strike the best pose. She didn't give a direct eye contact to the camera. She performed more like a princess instead of a queen. I do think she did better than some of the girls that made it in the top 16, I can't say she performed better than Venezuela or USA. When Catriona won, she literally performed the best in every factor...walk, dress, pose, eye contact, not to mention her advocacy and social skills.

The delegates in the top 5 are leaders in their own right who have gone to become substantial figures in their respective communities. While the newly crowned Miss Universe is a prolific hands-on game changer on top of that. This is my opinion on what went wrong: Celeste's styling was not as on pointe on the Miss Universe stage as it was when she won Miss Philippines. She actually looked more beautiful when she won Miss Philippines. Her best look was then, with her hair up, perfect makeup and beautiful dress. In the Miss Universe preliminary, her hair was down, and while she still looked beautiful, she no longer had that stunning aura that she had when she won MUP. Also, Celeste's manner of speaking is quite relaxed and casual. It could be that she came off as too relaxed in front of the judges during her interview. Don't know. I also know that all the girls who made Top 5 and most of the Top16 were very involved in their social causes. Both USA and Venezuela are established fashion designers who turned their passion towards benefitting women and the environment. Those are very strong platforms, and not something done to meet the new standards of the pageant. They were already doing that before they competed in their national contests. Things to consider . . .

I agree on this comment except on the make up part. The MUBA team did her make up which did not really showcased or emphasized her natural beauty. I also think that the organization didn't really like Celeste, Miss Thailand's performance during the Prelim round was outstanding, she's also very active in the activities, the only thing that she lack is the communication skills, Celeste on the other hand has improved a lot when it comes to com skill as seen on the recent interviews in the Philippines before she left for the US. In my opinion, she really deserve a spot on the Top 16. Baka hindi talaga sya bet ng MUO specially bago na yung owner, Sana hindi magaya sa MGI ang fate ng PH candidates sa MU for the years ahead.

Credentials and advocacies na ang labanan ngayon sa new era MU... top 16 says a lot about what the judges were looking for.. a tranformational leader. Hindi na uubra ang SS and EG performances lang ngayon para makapasok sa top 16 ( Laos, Canada ,Spain etc hindi maganda SS performance for example)..that is if hindi solid advocacies and credentials mo. 50% of the score sa closed door interviews based which is interestingly quite short ( gusto pa nga sana mag expound si Celeste pero ilang minutes lang daw binigay) Sa CD interview din makikita credentials ng candidate sa file niya. I remember sa time ni Bea mas mahaba ang time sa CD interview para makilala ng husto ang candidate.

Celeste is indeed gorgeous, she is effortless when she walks and her communication skills improved significantly. Her photo shoots are undeniably one of the best. Her Pre lim gown was not so striking compared to others, but she carried it very well. Celeste did great. To me the Miss Universe organization is looking for more than the looks, the outfits, the pasarela, but a strong leader who can make a difference in the community. A total package who leads by example. Miss USA been helping women who are victims of human trafficking as well as women who are victims of domestic violence. Her fashion industry uses recycled material and that alone is making a difference in the community. Miss USA is been doing it for years not just recently. Miss USA promotes diversity, she is proud to be a half Filipina even though she is representing the USA she never fails to recognize her Filipino blood. She showed the universe her talent and capabilities from start to finish. Don’t get me wrong I love Celeste since I am a Filipino and I’m still very proud of her. Shamcey and the rest of the MUPH organization needs to re-evaluate their candidates. This pageant is not just physical beauty, their pasarela. This is a whole package to the max na. All the contestants were beautiful in their own way, Celeste did not stand out sa competition, she was just average. I think she failed in her preliminary interview, that’s why she did not make it. Celeste, thank you so much for your effort, you did well. The organization failed you, chin up girl, we love you and proud of you. As for the MUPH organization, WAKE UP!! Whoever you select next time, pick someone not just beautiful but someone who can stand out sa crowd, with her beauty, intelligence, and relatable attitude. My goodness, pick someone like Pauline or Michelle..

MUP like to use “quite” surprise! Really? The communication director also used this “quite”, really? Your not very surprise? I commend the humility of Shamsey here and how she handled this interview and made excellent points, and ambition for the organization. Also… While Miss PHL Universe handlers are enjoying a good life and perks, the winner of Miss PHL looses her autonomy the moment they won the National pageant because they decide for everything. How can they become good leaders if they are not trained to be one? Or I should say as followers? I said it before, catriona’s recipe was “collaboration” in all aspects of her preparation together with her team! Catriona showed strong individuality. After Catriona’s win, many countries evolved! Even the Natcos preparation for Celeste was 10 days only done in dec-Jan? Wtf is this? - she won 8 months ago! This type of preparation speaks for itself! MUP can only blame themselves. The capes? Why no one is talking about the capes? Compare those capes and the their stories! She won’t even pass top 50 best capes and the story behind it?! The capes was their opportunity to tell a story about their advocacy! There was little effort on her cape?! Yes it was the children’s handprints (how boring?!) it was done in 5 mins and photo op?! but also the story submitted and read during the prelims- no one cares to analyze those? The Lazy handlers, only good on social media and their pretentious lifestyle. Miss Philippines is not even a mother and she educate mothers how to raise and feed their children? What the hell? Who made those descriptions? The work is so pretentious and unrealistic. There is a thin line on what you can educate poor mothers especially if educating parenthood is not your profession and most especially not being a mother per se. How can she relate? I can only blame her handlers on this who do not work properly. They need an national/ international development adviser who has long track record! They could have continued her advocacy on the environment to show track record over many years since Miss earth but added a synergistic advocacy to it and made it more believable. She demonstrated the lack of strong creative skills, managerial skills. Her journey maybe dictated mostly by her handlers and team. Compare tho those women who made it are business owners, artist, designers with strong independent and leadership skills. She failed to demonstrate these. And miss universe is looking for an independent spokesperson! For the preliminaries like the Olympic qualifiers- the contestants give their 💯 or more % and for the final, they aim to break those records! That is a no brainer strategy?!

Very well described 👏 To me the thing that made no sense was the narrative of her educating parents on how to raise their kids. Like WTF?? I was so surprised when I heard it that I had to rewind to listen again. She's not even a mother and gives parenthood lessons? No doubt she's beautiful but she held back A LOT. Like even her social media seemed like she's not competing. She didn't post anything BTS. No engagement. The Filipino fans (best in the world) did more than her team to keep her in the talks. She's a nice girl but I still feel that if Michelle Dee had represented the Phillipines, there would be a higher placement. Good luck to Celeste!

ANALYSIS : Nobody is to be blamed. We were a victim of CIRCUMSTANCES. Celeste was crowned in April and we didn't know anything about the forthcoming changes with the MUO. By September-October there was a change in ownership and management. By the time Anne stepped in there was a different direction in selecting the new MU winner. Anne is very EMPHATIC about WOMAN LEADERSHIP. She wants someone who can LEAD like someone who has a track record of leadership in her bio --- be it years of volunteerism, establishing her own business, putting up her own foundation and someone who has been truly engaged with her advocacy for years and not just months. So when MUPh looked at Celeste she was ZERO in this aspect. What can the MUPh do dethrone or replaced Celeste? Of course NO so they tried to come up with involvement in the SAVE the MARAWI CHILDREN just a few months ago as Celeste's new advocacy. Now come the MU competition proper. Anne was very involved in the selection process in the sense that she was very keen on reviewing and checking all background of the girls. SHE IS BENT ON LOOKING FOR THIS WOMAN LEADER. So when the close door interview came and am sure all girls were asked HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN INVOLVED WITH YOUR ADVOCACY? WHAT COMMUNITY AND SOCIAL SERVICES HAVE YOU DONE? We know that by these two questions alone Celeste will FAIL the requirement. The close door interview focusing on woman leadership has the MOST WEIGHT among the criteria. This is where Celeste FAILED. It was NOT her prelim performance that caused her downfall. It was NOT the gown nor the lack of energy during the rehearsal. Add also to the fact that when Celeste speaks she lacks CONVICTION a trait that is very necessary in order to be an effective leader. IMG era was more on WOMAN of SUBSTANCE and now the JKN era is all about WOMAN LEADER. The next Philippine representative SHOULD HAVE a very strong LEADERSHIP BACKGROUND and not just about advocacy. She should have a long track record of involvement in community and social services. It's like applying for a JOB (which is actually a MU job) and when they ask the girl if she has this leadership experience and she has only very little or minimal exposure then she will not be considered for the job. Given this new direction, the woman that BEST FIT to this role is ATHISA MANALO. Not only is she gorgeous and stunning but she is the CEO of her own business for years now. Also when she speaks, she speaks with authority and conviction, not the soft delicate girly girly type of voice. She is the ONLY ONE that I could think for now. Well, I also have some names in mind though not that strong, the likes of Vanessa Caro, Julia Saubier, Victoria Vincent (?), Alison Black (she opens her own ballet company?), Alaiza Malinao (she has a very good engagement with farmers in Davao), Steffi Aberasturi (she has her own online selling business), Lauren Mae Bautista (she is a councilor/politician serving in Laguna), still thinking for other girls. BOTTOMLINE : Our next representative should not only possess the PHYSICAL BEAUTY but MORE importantly has that DRIVE to LEAD and has a proven track record of leadership or entrepreneurship in her bio. So let's stop the BLAMING and FINGER POINTING but instead focus on FINDING THIS WOMAN LEADER that we will send next year or should I say at the end of the year for the 2023 MU edition to be held this December at El Salvador.

the “transformational leader” idea was already hinted long before the final week of MU. hindi lang talaga napaghandaan ng MUPh ang sitwasyon because of poor planning and weak insight. hindi sila maagap. the fact that MUPh couldn’t adapt to the situation and see the signs and act accordingly shows their weakness to lead. MUPh was a victim of their own inability to adapt to circumstances. also, i just wanna say they had 7 months to prepare and i was appalled to learn that celeste’s gown & natcos were last-minute. this example just shows their poor planning and incapacity to lead. if at this level they’re inefficient, then there are surely more inefficiencies in other aspects of their decisions. and the results show. nobody is to be blamed? MUPh should be held accountable. It’s weak to say “we were victims of circumstances.” that’s an excuse for being unprepared and failing to adapt to the challenges. you don’t win because the circumstances were favorable to you. you win because you conquered the difficult circumstances.

I was all out support for Celeste, however the more I learned about the other girls and heard them speak, especially R’Bonney, a part of me wished our girl Celeste could speak with much more substance and depth on her life’s purpose and mission. We made much about her being authentic, but the thing is, R’Bonney was just as, if not more, authentic because she didn’t adopt an advocacy to enhance her MU candidacy, but as Stone W said, was working to be “a force for good” years before she competed. Shamcey is right, MUP needs to review the qualities they look for in our candidates and align with the new owner’s desire for the organization to be progressive and transformative. R’Bonney’s win and statements made by the new owner, as well as the way the MU website is written indicate that a candidate’s commitment to an advocacy can no longer be treated as icing on the cake or just for show but should be integral to the candidate’s life and core values.

Yes! substance and depth!! To say I am authentic and relatable is not enough. Rbonney showed her authenticity through her actions and words. It’s easy to recalibrate. MUO made it obvious in this last edition how it puts more premium now on relevant and consistent advocacies. Also on the speaking ability. A candidate does not only need to have a long time advocacy, but also a superb communication skill to promote the new brand. MUP should not force the candidate to adapt its organization’s charity projects. It should help promote the candidate’s own personal advocacy. Shamcey made that wrong move with Celeste for making her ditch her original project helping indigenous people to make way for MUP’s save the children. I think that’s one of the reasons why Celeste failed to enter the semis. Her save the children advocacy was adapted only recently to have something to show at miss Universe.

The criteria changed when Anne took MU from IMG, and it was too late for many countries like the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Mexico, etc. If the Philippines had known this was going to happen, we would have crowned Michelle Dee or Pauline Amelinckx instead. If Anne had taken MU several years ago, several other candidates would not have made it (Maxine, Gazini, Rachel, and MJ to name a few). Celeste had the fire and was glowing during MUP but during MU she just looked tired. She got too comfortable with her sash that she depended on it (and her beauty) without trying as hard as she could, come on...she wore a sweatsuit during her travel to the USA, which is not a good first impression. Also, you cannot just develop an advocacy for the sake of your national pageant and Miss Universe...it must be a lifelong passion, and if not, Anne will know. Don't be shocked going forward if MUP doesn't crown the prettiest contestant. Inner beauty outweighs outer beauty at MU.

Guys! Guys!! Filipinos!!! Stop trying to come up with soooo many excuses... Here's what I believe cost Philippines the Semi-Finalists' Top16 spot: 1- Immediately I saw Celeste walking out of the Closed-door Personality Interviews, I could tell from her body language that she was EXTREMELY UNSURE of what had just happened in that room, BUT ofcourse when asked she put a strong face saying, "it went well.." 2- Celeste did NOT have the same Winner's Aura during the Preliminaries on stage performance, infact she came across as a bit Tired, Low-energy and kinda Overwhelmed by all competition's activities 3- Pre-Arrival Immediately after winning Miss Universe Philippines, while the other country delegates were busy getting involved in building their Bios/ Resume through REAL ADVOCACIES that they are GENUINELY passionate about, Celeste was being transformed into this veeerry high-fashion instagram model with a very boderline-sexualized fierce Aura and THIS... especially I don't think translated to mean a Transformational Leader Queen ready to INSPIRE/ SERVE other Women across the Universe... In a Nutshell, Celeste's downfall was:- 1- BIO/ RESUMÉ 2- Closed-door Personality Interview 3- Lack of a Winner's AURA 4- Wrong Pre-Arrival Image buildup...

If I may, I'd like to offer some suggestions that I think will be of help for our next candidates: 1. Choose a winner who's passionate about serving the people and can back it up with her background and not just with her speeches. 2. Choose someone who can confidently and genuinely communicate and deliver her thoughts and desires regarding her advocacy. 3. Choose someone with a plan. A clear and strong plan on how to execute her goals. 4. Choose someone who has a strong spirit yet doesn't exude arrogance. Its okay to be confident but sometimes some people get intimidated by it especially if the candidate is very beautiful like Celeste or too driven like Rabiya. Perhaps someone like Bea again. Now I am not saying Celeste and Rabiya seemed arrogant but they sometimes were giving some people this intimidating vibe which I think they didn't mean to. 5. Please stay AWAY from stiff and underwhelming gowns for the prelims and finals like what Rabiya and CC wore. Look at the gowns you made Bea wear, they were light and flowy yet very well thought off hence she was able to perform her walk flawlessly and confidently. The slit was a beautiful touch. 6. Maybe for indoor interviews, try letting our candidate wear something that makes them look very feminine and likeable. Example: the outfit of miss Dominican Republic. It's the part of the competition where impressions matter so what better way to make them likeable than by letting them wear elegant and almost Mama Mary-ish outfits. Lol Anyways, Just my 50 cents.

The New MUO looks for a viable candidate with a Total package and All: Very passionate in her craft, active influencer in the community thru her work, Champion promoter on women empowerment. These qualities were all demonstrated by Miss U RBonney but sadly did not manifest in our candidate. So, moving fwd MUP should take heed these qualities and look for the TOTAL Embodiment of a Feminine, inside and out. A tall order yes but should resonate with the New MUO thrusts & objective. The close-door interview i think was the pivotal point for the selection of the top 16, they are picking girls now that has authentic exceptional backgrounds, Strong advocacies that are really true to what they want, someone that are inspiring to transform lives of others someone who is innately passionate to change the world for the better, The miss u philippines organization needs to change how they select our representative for this year because “pretty”won’t cut it anymore.

May nakita akong video na hindi daw pwede na may dalawang pinay sa finals. If nka pasok si Celeste for sure she will reach through the finals with miss usa. Kaya siguro sya ang sinacrifice 🥺 marami ang nagulat sa hindi sya nka pasok 😢 marami ang nka pasok na hindi inaasahan. Maybe they gave chance sa countries na hindi naranasan mka pasok sa semi finals. Still congratulations Celeste..! You’re still a winner! ❤

the controversial speculation about Supsup leaving Cortesi right after she was not included in the T16 was never asked... yes she talked to Cortesi the morning after but was it true she left the venue when Cortesi didnt make it to T16?

The outcome of the Miss Universe clearly is telling us about how these girls share their transformational stories with the selection committee which has a scoring weight of 50%. The Philippines was not able to make it to the top 16 because, with the combined scores, Miss Laos, Miss Haiti, and Miss Canada evidently got higher scores compared to Miss Philippines. We were all surprised, however, we knew what the message of the new owner was, she is looking for a transformational leader. Many beautiful ladies who were frontrunners were not included in the top 16, and the standard of beauty this time was put to a threshold level. If MUPh is resolute to send a strong candidate. they need to revitalize the core and attention of the organization to an individual with a quality of a transformational leader.

Celeste is a good one when she won MsUPhils. What went wrong was she did not give her best, shes holding back. To MUP please make sure sa prelims pa lng ng MissU showcase the best agad!

I just think that this batch was too strong that it was too hard for our candidate to make it to the top 16. Remember they were 80 candidates and they’re only picking 16. Who knows we could have been placed around 18th or 20th but still didn’t make it to the cut. Seeing the prelims, the girls were really so good on stage plus their gowns were so good and edgy. MUPH should really step up because every year seems like an experiment to them. I think they should also seek the help of Pia and Catriona as real winners so they could give better inputs.

I agree ,we usually get the last spots from the Top 20. And I agree di ko kse ma gets baket need magpalit palit ng mga trainers esp if subok na. Like what you said bat di nila kunin sila Pia and Cat or their teams? Saka credentials dn nya kse parang lacking. Advocacy, her educational and career backgrounds etc. But I really feel bad for her kse yung burden na Phil fell from semis eh happened to her.

Speaking and advocacy is very important in addition to performance but many powerhouse countries need to adjust like what Shamcey said. My advice is to find the best all around woman regardless of her racial background or your country's beauty standards as we saw in the top 16 Miss Universe is no longer a particular look similar to the IMG era but speaking is even more important now.

I hope Chantal Schmidt will join again this year. I'm just not sure though if she has a strong educational background but I think her advocacy is quite strong and just needs some improvements. She not only has a great face and body but can articulate well plus her bubbly personality. Please encourage Chantal to join again.

The Miss Universe Philippines organization failed Celeste. I would resign if I were National Director because I misdirected my candidate. The National Director directs. This was done poorly from the selection process to preparation. Michelle Dee was quite active in her autism-related advocacies and I can't help but think that she would have easily placed. Celeste did what she could, given the lack of guidance. This is not about luck or destiny or humility as Shamcey would like us to believe. Every country had the same challenge with the new Miss Universe organization. Take responsibility for goodness sakes, Shamcey.
