Roger. Just did 18 of them and the turned out amazing. Just wanted to let you know that I transferred the rapidtac liquid to a small spray bottle (from dollar tree) and it works so much better. No waste and it is just enough for the vinyl to adhere to. No excess comes off the glass as it’s JUST ENOUGH.

Hi Roger, I am seeing in most videos for glass Oracle 651 Matte or Glossy white vinyl is used. Could you use Oracle 651 Clear instead of using a laminate sheet on the Dollar Tree glass cutting board ? I'm not gettinga good seal with the laminate. @rogersshop

Since I have used my big heat press to heat acrylic so I can bend it, sublimating on it (with a laminate layer) would be risky, if it works at all. The acrylic may warp or melt. I doubt that you could sublimate direct to the acrylic without a substrate to accept the dye.

Let dry for 30 minutes- 1 hour after squeegee. Press with vinyl at bottom, graphics facing up for 180 seconds at 385 degrees. Do not hot peel. Let cool to the touch. Wet paper surface, let set 3-4 minutes, remove paper. Works 100% of the time. No pre-press.

You said in the video you cut the vinyl 7.70 x 7.70 whether it's square or round. What size is the image you are sublimating? I noticed you had a border all around.
@rogersshop
@rogersshop 2 жыл бұрын
Size of image depends on what it is and the desired result. I don't always make it the full dimension of the vinyl. I do leave a .05" border around the edges of glass. This pretty much prevent little fingers from trying to peel off the vinyl. when making a full coverage graphic, I often make it 8" to make sure there are no white edges.

Hi Roger I think I’m having a senior moment!!! I’ve watched the video twice and still can’t get my head around it (senior moment). The 651 is stuck to the glass then the print is placed on the 651 (ink side to 651). Then heat pressed. This I understand. What my senior moment is I can’t understand how the ink transfers through the plastic 651 and can be seen through the glass. I may be overthinking the process! Be gentle I’m still learning.

Did u ever try the easy press with the printed sub on top instead of at the bottom?
@rogersshop
@rogersshop 2 жыл бұрын
Vinyl will deform and melt when done the other way and if you move at all while pressing, the vinyl will shift on the glass. Plus, you can't see if the graphic transferred completely without taking it off the mat, which is necessary when using an Easy press since you can't accurately control the pressure. This CAN be done with an Easy Press, but it is not the best way since it requires heavy pressure for an extended period of time and there is a risk of moving while trying to put this much pressure on, resulting in ghosting of the image.

@@anarobello7505 Sublimation ink looks that way. Blacks appear gray and other colors seem washed out. I just shot a video today (not posted yet) on how to recover a clogged Epson 2720 sublimation printer that had not been used for many months and explained during the shoot about the colors being "different". Some suggestions: Under printer preferences, turn OFF high speed printing. Use high quality. Set paper to "Premium Presentation Matte" for sublimation paper. We use A-Sub and HiIPoo papers. If left to high speed printing, it does not saturate the paper as well since it uses fewer "lines". The video I shot today should get posted later this week. It isn't edited yet.

I live in MN and searched several stores. Only found a few of the ones with designs on them already - BUT if you soak them a bit it is easy to take a razor blade or knife to the paper/vinyl (not sure what they used, almost like a coated paper) and remove it. I tried to order from Dollar Tree website but no clear ones in stock there either when I checked last night, but they have a variety pack that has some clear and some designed. For example, if I want to do a 2x2 photo on a 4x4 plaque, will the plaque still be translucent where the photo isn’t applied? And the same for words. Have you ever had issues with the ink spreading over time? Seems like when I press the images they’re crisp but about a month later they start to blur slightly. I’m using oracle 561.

I have been using the laminate sheet process for my cutting boards. Now all of a sudden my laminate is wrinkling. Any idea what could be causing this. It was never an issue before. Thank you..

I have never made any thing like this, I am interested in making some for my organization. My question is, what sort of sticker can I use or where can I order custom made stickers for this project? I have searched but am not even sure what I am looking for in ordering stickers.
@rogersshop
@rogersshop 2 жыл бұрын
These are not stickers. You will need a sublimation printer with sublimation ink, a heat press, and permanent outdoor vinyl, such as Oracle 651. For the graphics, you can either make your own or have someone design them for you.

Hi Roger, can you use any other white? matt vinyl?? and I messed up my first sublimation onto a glass frame, is there a way to remove the sublimation ink? or is it a bust?? thank you
@rogersshop
@rogersshop 9 ай бұрын
Yes, you can use matte. To remove the vinyl, heat it up and scrape. It comes off pretty easy that way

What’s the rapid tack for and is there something you can use instead?
@rogersshop
@rogersshop 2 жыл бұрын
Allows positioning and eliminates air bubbles after squeegee. Plain water can also be used. Do not add any soap or you will get spots.

I followed your instructions step by step but I used cricut white permanent vinyl And it still will not come through. So does oracle 651 the only vinyl that works.
@rogersshop
@rogersshop 3 жыл бұрын
I have also used the Cricut vinyl and it works the same. Check your temperature settings and the time/pressure on the heat press. I use Oracle 651 because it costs less per foot.

Hey Mr. Roger. I'm trying to learn this process but I have a small problem. When I measure something.... say that Square cutting board....I am not the best at reading a tape measure, but when I do get say 2 inches and 6 lines past....I don't know how to translate that in to a decimal for my cricut. I know I may sound dumb, I just don't know how. Do you know any tips that may help me learn to measure and translate to decimal? Thank you so much and any time you take to answer would be greatly greatly appreciated.

@rogersshop

Yes. Just keep in mind that when using clear, the color of what-ever it is sitting on will affect the image color. I've done this on plain glass with a lit back light and it looks pretty striking.

Would it be easier to sublimate the vinyl before applying it ?
@rogersshop
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
No. Just adding another step and sublimation direct to vinyl can have its own issues without a solid backing.

Cuts it to size very accurately. It just cuts the shape, whether square or round.

We buy them direct at the Dollar Tree website. 24 to a case and they are delivered to a local Dollar Tree store, and we pick them up. Since I go though so many, the stores would never have enough in stock for our purpose.
