I would be interested in seeing other colors done at a 3%, 1%, & a 0.1% range.

Congratulations on video 400! I can't wait to see where you go in the future. I hope to still be here when you get to video 800! I would like to have seen the colors at other depths of shades. I would have also liked to have seen Champaign compared to a comparable color like you did with the browns. Keep on inspiring all of us to try new colors and ways of dyeing!

I'm sitting on a stool watching and my kettle of Black Walnut juice, for lack of a better term. Its the only natural dye I use, and it's a stain, but as it reduces, the d.o.s. is amazing!!!

It's kind of a funny concept, but I rather like the idea of seeing how far you can take things in an unexpected direction like concentrated pastels or diluted intense colors. One curiosity that might help going forward is using notorious bleeders in various concentrations to see when bleeding starts to become a problem and when you can "safely" use them without worrying about the wash step too much. Is it 0.5%? 0.1%? Do they keep bleeding no matter how dilute they are? I'd have to go back to the neons concentration episode to see what the pink and purple do, but playing with some of the more troublesome blues might let you use them more if you have a better idea of when they start to bleed.
@ChemKnitsTutorials2 жыл бұрын
I think that bleeding is something that is hard to quantify. I don't think I had any frustrating bleeding at a 0.5% dos of the neons - but also since I was dyeing 20 g minis it was SUPER easy to wash them with a larger volume of water. So there are many factors there. I do have a video where I tried to get a pastel navy color, i ended up using 1 mL at a time over three skeins. I'd love to try this again.

Congratulations and thank you for 400 inspiring episodes! I love knowing there will always be something new to learn in our dyeing adventures. I have a question, and maybe a suggestion for studying Toner Black. You mentioned that this is a very neutral gray which doesn't tend to skew towards blue or purple. Am I right in assuming that this dye is intended to "tone" other hues? Say for example you want to make a fade set of a bright color that gradually deepens in tone. Light blue to dark blue or bright purple to deep. So you might add .01%, .05%, etc to gradually add depth without accidentally shifting the hue?

Congrats on your milestones, and thank you for all your work!! I think videos like this are super helpful. Maybe it would be interesting to compare a color family (e.g., several purples from Dharma) at various DOSs?

That super saturated champagne color looks like Orange Sherbet, which is probably my absolute favorite color of orange, shame it would take so much dye to get that color. The .25% dos of Blazing Orange is a pale pumpkin color (at least on my screen) and looks more red leaning... but again colors on a screen don't really match life.

i know that you don't want to leave out any of the fiber crafts when you're talking about swatching there.... my smart-ass brain went straight to "you left out Naalbinding Rebecca!" but that's ok. its far more niche than any of the big 3

can we do color macrame rope like this..?
@ChemKnitsTutorials2 жыл бұрын
Is macrame rope made out of cotton? You can dye it, but you will need a different type of dyes. The dyes in this video are acid dyes which work on protein fibers like wool, alpaca, etc. For cotton and other plant fibers you need something called fiber reactive dyes. I hope this helps!
@prthypriya56012 жыл бұрын
@@ChemKnitsTutorials yes..100% cotton rope..but when i do colour my rope..it Don't go inside..i use normal powder colour..maybe in that colour don't have any acid..plz tell me what to do in this issue..
