Though she was born in the United States, Anisa Amani understands the struggles of immigrants and refugees. As a first generation Afghan-American, her parents have taught her about their home culture, food and language - life lessons that have become essential in her current role.
As a teacher at Dyer-Kelly Elementary School, she has become a friendly face with a familiar tone for incoming students who speak Farsi.
Find out why Anisa Amani is so passionate about helping English learner students succeed. Check out her #MySJStory.
