the saddest thing about this ending is that Kyle thinks he's speaking to his friends after all his hard work, had his walkie talkie in his hand and was doing everything to operate it right, but instead of talking, he was growling. and that's also what he was doing occasionally, throughout the story, when he would call people but get no response.

I think the ending should have been a shoot and run, all the survivors from the tower escaping the zone in cars by blowing up the quarantine wall, escaping into the city with a massive hole where all the zombies go through. So basically, it would have been another ending where cranes actions had destroyed the world.

As much as I love Crane's character, I can't deny that this ending is really interesting. It's sad but it's good. The way I see it, it can be one of two possibilities: 1) It's a hallucination of the past during a seizure before turning and there may still be a way to save him. 2) This is the real deal and he arrives at an entirely new uninfected town and spreads the disease. This can open up a door to a new story and a new protagonist. After all, we can't have a Dying Light 2 with Crane as the hero again but has all his stats reset. That'd be total BS. And one more thing. "Seeing through Mother's eyes" should not be taken literally. What she meant was by drinking the vial, Crane would become like her and finally understand why the vials' contents aren't really a cure.

There are lots of theories, but Just let people believe what they want to believe, i believe that he has turned into a volatile and escaped the quarantine zone and start a new zombie outbreak somewhere else, it makes the most sense to me, he has already turned even during the boss battle, he can’t use his weapons anymore and so fights bare handedly, his brain is already downgrading, he’s alr starting to change during the battle with the mother. It just makes the most sense to me.

@@bubblytortilla With maxed out skill trees you can regenerate health as fast as Kyle did in the final battle. The difference is however that a maxed out player can only regenerate until 75HP, after which it will stop. In the final battle he can regenerate HIS ENTIRE HEALTH BAR!!!

I prefer this ending. To me, this makes more sense climactically. Kyle wouldn’t just blow up Harran, he would cling to hope even though it’s pointless. Him desperately trying to bring the tower something they can survive with feels more in-character than just nuking the place. Especially since 80% of the main game’s plot is about preventing exactly that from happening. I also think that those vials could’ve helped the tower. The contents turn infected into sentient volatiles, right? However, in vaporized form this process takes place over a very long time. If the mother hadn’t forcefully make Kyle drink the chemicals of one of those vials, he could’ve made it back to the tower where the vaporized contents would’ve prevented the infected residents from turning into virals. I wouldn’t have been a permanent solution, but it would’ve bought Camden more time to look for one. This way, the worst case scenario would’ve been that at some point in the future, people would turn into sentient volatiles. But if it really came to that, the military could’ve still cluster-bombed the city. Nuking the place right away is just so nihilistic and genocidal,

Look people, crane turns into a sentient volatile. It isn't clear if he is the night Hunter, but it is clear that he is the reason why the rest of the world will get infected. As you kill the mother, she says "You will kill everyone", meaning that crane is patient zero in a new area outside of the quarantine zone. He did imagine things, but he does turn into a volatile at night, and human by day. The city you see in the background is Harran, so crane stumbled into an exit. Also, it is believed that tolga and fatim have escaped the quarantine zone and either arrived in an uninfected place, or the bozak arena. More than likely, the developers will use this ending to continue the sequel.

Lets be real... that was an unexpected yet dare I say realistic ending. Yes it was a shock. I was literally blown away! I had to look up the other endings just to know what the alternatives were (I listened to mother like a good boy). Not dissapointed at all, its time to take a break from the predictable same ol tired reused "solo hero saves the world without loss". They are making a sequel so whats the problem? Problem was they wrote a script that captivated us all. Got us engaged in the story and through incredible voice acting made the first person experience incredible. I say kudos! Easily one of my favorite games ever! So excited for Dying Light 2!

So now I have a theory on both the endings: Nuke ending: Ever since Crane set off the nuclear bomb in hopes of killing the pleague, the nuke destroyed the quarantine walls and the virus survived the explosion and spread throughout New environment, which led to the events of DL2. Infected ending: Crane becomes the night hunter and started spreading the virus outside the quarantine which also led to the events of DL2.

Im mostly happy ending kinda guy but sometimes fell in love with grim endings too. This is just one of them, in the whole base game and the dlc Kyle was trying to help people, cure, protect and save them but turns out in the end he is the one who caused virus to spread out the world. I think that it would be cool for Dying Light 2 to bring back Crane as a human during day but during night he becomes an out of control night hunter, perhaps under the influence of the mother. This way, you could continue Crane's story and add a unique twist to both the night time gameplay and story that follows it. Imagine a story where you play as Crane who, with a little bit of humanity left, tries to break free of his night hunter form, maybe with the help of previous characters or the GRE.

During the day volatile hives are full of aggressive volatiles and at night they're empty. During the day they run because they are being burned not that they act like humans. They can still attack you they're stuck.

So if i understood correctly,he is the night hunter we play in multiplayer. In the ending he gets out of harran, he is caught off guard,the sun sets, he loses his mind and spreads the infection to the world thus starting dying light 2. BUT, shouldn't he be able to regain his sanity during the day? Unless he instinctively hid himself in caves during the day and only came out at night, like volatiles do, then it would mean his mind deteriorated to the point of no return and he is gone. BUT, if the turned back the next day, he could have found a way to stay sane, like barricading himself in a room with uv lights so he wouldn't hurt no one ever again. Maybe we'll see him in dying light 2 as an ally, using his newfound abilities to help us.

I think this is an hallucination of what "mother" had went through when she became volitiale, looking at the surrondings you can see cigarettes which is probably the biggest lead we all have. But I noticed in the sewers before whoever it was exits the sewer, it seemed abnormally clean, suggesting this was perhaps a new city or the first volitiale, praying that Crane isn't a volitiale, and it's just the most effecting him.

I believe crane is special now that he has had the "cure" and can change between human and volatile forms unwillingly at night and day. Hence the name Dying light. So I think in the new Dlc or dying light 3 there will be a transformation of crane at night and at day and he can start to control it later on through the storyline. Or I could just be incredibly wrong and he could just be seeing what the Mother saw when she got out of the sewers because there was a cigarette carton there..

I think crane is a good guy during day and bad guy during night zombie. Edit: Excuse me for the poor grammar, I shall explain in a more understandable manner. Since Kyle drank the vile, he was slowly turning into a zombie while he was fighting the mother. In the sewers, he must have gotten lost and past the quarantine zone. The “seeing through the mother’s eyes” isn’t to be taken literally. It’s saying that Kyle will experience the same things as the Mother and understand that the fumes/viles aren’t a cure.

Year later it has been confirmed that both endings, are cannon. In their own way. If you become the the Night hunter, you spread the disease more and more, and yes he does become The night hunter. If you nuke the city, you fail to wipe out the virus still this was confirmed by uncy, a tech land developer.

You could be right about that, but at the end of the following before you make a choice the mother says the blue vials don't cure the disease. It turns you into a sentient volatile that goes feral in the dark and the blue smoke that stops the zombies attacking you also turns you into a "sentient volatile" not a night hunter. techland just used the howl to create a more powerful ending because the volatiles bearly make a loud noise if you get what i mean. By the way crane turned into the night hunter because he was infected and my theory is the longer you stay a human whilst being infected the worse and more deadly the mutation will be and crane is infected from the very beginning of the game from a long story through helping other people with side quests to going back to the story and when crane finally kills rais it has been days and weeks in the game which is a really long time in that game and when you get to the end of the following whilst still being infected gives you the most worst and most deadly mutation the zombies can get the "night hunter" able to mutate into different breads of night hunter and even shoot acid at you can summon a horde bombers with its goo/spit UV suppressor and even disable your way to track it so that concludes the longest thing I've ever typed so recap deadliest mutation (night hunter) longer you stay infected the worse and more deadly the mutation and crane is the one that stayed infected the longest through the whole game.
