To be fair he can't actually well technically because the volatiles,actually need a live human to well to transform them into another volatile somehow in the harran country side there's a nest during one of the main missions that you need to find a guy but he got captured and set in the nest because he was the only volatile seen so far to scream human words and in agony as he was still human .it was also indicated that he was healthy and not infected either

Something that could be added is that the skin turned gray due to a lack of melanin and from little to no sun exposure.

Something I’ve noticed is that Volatiles are constantly breathing very heavily. This makes me think that theirs been changes to the lungs as well to help them chase down prey with ease, such as the lungs having possibly grown larger. I would also assume that the heart has grown larger as well. Also, the ribs sometimes move, as if the Volatile have some control over them. I think they may actually use them to help hold onto people they catch.

Got a cliche story and very underdeveloped lore about both the virus and the characters. But they're learning from their mistakes and focusing a lot more on the narrative in Dying Light 2 as well as improving the almost perfect anyways gameplay. The only thing I'm worried DL2 will lack is the horror aspect that the first game lacked, there were no jumpscares except one or two which completely ruined the sense of stress and pressure of expecting something to scare you or creep you out any second. If you ask me they should learn a bit from the Outlast games and how they handled their jump scares.

@the aussie legend ned kelly it has a cult following in fact, very dedicated fanbase unlike any I've seen before and it is big. The actual problem right now is with DL2, if you compare it to any other AAA game from this E3, it gets almost zero coverage from youtubers, with the exception of those who make DL content exclusively, also nobody OUT of its community really talks about it in general. And in the end all of this is Techland's fault because they released pretty much no info AT ALL between last year's and this E3 besides a bunch of concept arts, which are actually very promising if they make it into the game in the forms of buildings and atmosphere but I digress. At least in 26th of this month they will finally release their private demo, and god I hope some night time and zombie coverage in the near future too, because at the moment it's extremely rarely for people to even do speculations for the new game because there's absolutely nothing to work with. I hope they've actually acknowledged their mistake and realise that with a contained community like DLs, they should actually release as much info about the game as possible instead of trying to do CDPR's way staying silent to build hype. It's a game with a perfect gameplay formula, and when you have something like that all you have to do is to give us more.

There is a mission in The Following. In the Farm, Jasir sends you to see a hunter called Sabit. Crane (The Player) goes to his shack, but finds out there is a hole under the floorboards. And under it, is a Volatile nest. but there is only one Volatile and that volatile hasn't completely transformed. that Volatile turns out to be Sabit... There also is a slight hole on the roof of the cave and Sabit is heard screaming "mercy" or "please end my suffering". this unique Volatile raises a lot of questions but, interestingly, there is still a little bit, just a little bit of humanity in these "nightmares".

Do not forget about a quest in the following, I can not remember it’s name, but Jasir sends you to retrieve some herbs one of his men picked up. As you arrive to the cabin he was at, you notice a hole in it. After further investigation you realize this actually leads to a volitile hive. However if you proceed, you are met with a deep, gargling, gut wrenching voice say “it burns, mercy” this volitile was not attacking you because it was, stuck? To the floor simalar to when you are fighting the night hunters nest. This “thing” was that man you were trying to find originally.

he wasn’t attacking because he was in the middle of turning. the only reason he could talk is because he still retained part of his humanity, as the volatile “evolution” process hadn’t been completed yet. i don’t know if he was bitten and turned into a biter first, and it took some time to make him a volatile? either that, or it implies that humans can skip to the volatile stage immediately via the nests.

The UV light burns them because of how UV light from the sun or the light will kill the virus, the volatile is coursing with the virus. That’s why you can see some smoke sizzling up from the orange parts.

I think the Volatile is an awesome looking, and thoroughly disconcerting enemy. I like to imagine the Umbrella corporation creating something like the Volatile using the T-Virus and surgical modification. I imagine the resulting creature as a sort of “mini-Tyrant”.

Apparently volatiles have nests, where they convert regular biters into volatiles. There is also an evolved version of the volatile, which is slightly larger than the regular version. I also think the regular version cant spit toxic projectiles, its only the evolved volatile that can do that (correct me if i'm wrong).

@@AurelionSass time , further mutations, exposure to probably allready existing radioactive substances somewhere in harran. Addaptability to their enviroments. maybe those were volatiles that had lots of fighting with other humans, maybe even with other volatiles. Maybe another experiment done on regular volatiles as an attempt at curing. Maybe they tried to do something with a nest thus mutating it and making that nest produce evolved/alpha volatiles.

The reason for these mutations is due to Doctor Zere exposing certain infected to altered strains of the Haran virus. This was stated in the first mission but it is interesting to see why and how the volatiles bodies work
